Ok.....what you need to do is firstly get a G clamp or special brake caliper tool (from auto parts stores)...and place the olde brake pad so that it covers the open hole of the caliper piston...then place the glamp or caliper tool against the old brake pad, and screw in...what you want to do is push this piston back in as far as it goes......as you do this, the fluid in the piston will work back towards and into the brake master cylinder....so you will need to remove the brake master cylinder cap and ensure that you dont spill brake fluid onto the car's paintwork...

Once the piston is back in it's housing, place the new brake pads and replace the caliper to its original position.

Do this to bothe sides...and after you have out everything back together, do not forget to depress the brake pedal a few times to reseat the pistons, or you it will go to the floor 2-3 times before you have brakes......

You need a large c clamp, or a caliper compressor available at most local parts houses

I took the old rear brake pads off my 2000 chevy blazer and the new ones won't go on. They don't allow enough space to go back on?

YOU HAVE TO COMPRESS THE CALIPER PISTON BACK INTO THE CALIPER USING A C-CLAMP OR SIMILAR TOOL. USE AN OLD PAD TO DO THIS.

I have a 2003 tiburon and I changed the rear rotors and pads but can't seem to get the caliper back on cause the lower guide pin doesn't slide like the upper one. I have never seen this before is...

YOU NEED TO COMPRESS THE CALIPER PISTON USING SPECIAL TOOL 09580 - 3400 OR YOU CAN USE A LARGE C CLAMP AND THE OLD BRAKE SHOE NEXT TO CALIPER PISTON.BE SURE TO SIPHON OUT 1/3 BRAKE FLUID OUT OF THE MASTER CYLINDER BEFORE COMPRESSING CALIPER PISTON BACK IN THE CALIPER BORE.WHEN YOU FINISH REPLACING REPLACING REAR BRAKE SHOES.MAKE SURE BRAKE MASTERCYLINDER RESERVOIR COVER BACK ON RESERVOIR BACK IN PLACE.THEN PUMP BRAKE PEDAL TO SEAT BRAKE SHOES AGAINST ROTORS AND UNTIL YOU GET FIRM SOLID BRAKES.THEN CHECK BRAKE FLUID LEVEL.DONT DRIVE CAR IF BRAKE PEDAL FEEL SOFT NOT FIRM.CHECK FOR LEAKING BRAKE HOSE OR LEAKING CALIPER PISTON SEAL.

Trying to replace the brake pads. what do i need to do to get the caliper to go back in so i can put it on over the brake pads again?

you can loosen the bleeder valve and then use a C clamp to press it back in and then retighten the valve, You will lose a little fluid but will not need to re-bleed the lines.

How to change brake pads

You'll need to remove the wheel. Unbolt the 2 bolts holding on the caliper. Remove the caliper to the side. Remove the pads from the caliper holder. With a large C clamp or a caliper piston tool, push the caliper piston back into the caliper. Reinstall everything. Before you drive the vehicle, make sure you pump the brake pedal to get the brakes set.

Rear drivers side brake bleeder niple is froze - need to replace calipar - is this difficult? I have completed other repairs on brakes and replaced calipars before just not on a blazer

This is just like any other vehicle to change out the caliper. Almost all brakes are the same when it comes down to it. The only difference is the way certain companies either install them or the way they work. But on the Blazer it is really simple and can be done by just taking your time and doing it like you have done before

I replaced the rotors and pads on my right hand drive Blazer and had the same problem ,dont worry in a couple of days normal running the pressure goes away and you dont get the heat problem.
Its just the new pads bedding in.
