Question about 2000 Chevrolet Astro

1 Answer

2000 Astro, I replaced fuel pump a month ago. Worked fine. Now gas guage is not working, just hangs down below E. Where is the dang fuse, so I can check it? I have the owner's manual, I don't see a listing for guage. I see pump relay.

It sounds like a problem with the fuel gauge sender unit which is usually combined with the fuel pump. Since you have just replaced the pump, check the wiring connections at the connecting plug.

I have A 95 Astro that has A new Fuel Pump and Filter that was replaced 3 months ago.. I replaced the brake fuse and it will start run ,but it died so as I give it any gas.. Is this the fuel reg??

Check your fuel pressure at idle and under a load, if there is a fluxuation greater than 2lbs you should check for a bad fuel filter and then the pump return line.

When you replaced the fuel pump, did you have you switch to the new harness? Check your wiring.
Could it simply be a relay?
My dash gauges went nuts but the car runs.
Do you hear the fuel pump running?

Fuel pump

Did you check the fuse and relay? It can't work unless it gets power. Did you check the harness and make sure pump is getting voltage?

Possible fuel pump??

What is the year, make and model? One thing you can do to see if the problem is the fuel pump is to hook up a fuel pressure guage on the fuel rail located on the top o the engine. The valve that you hook the guage up to loos similar to the valve stem on a bike tire or car this will tell you if you are getting fuel pressure or not. Another common problem is the fuel pump relay which can sometimes go bad. This is usually located near your fuse block and they cost around $20 dollars depending on which application requires them. Keep me posted.

Fuel pump

Check the ignition module in the distributor. It controls the spark as well as turning on the fuel pump.
