You can buy them used from salvage yards. From what I have seen though, neither used or rebuilt do much good.A new transmission is always best.Good luck! Greg You can call a couple parts stores or a shop, they will give you a pretty decent ballpark figure.

if your d4 light started flashing, then that means a transmission sensor is failing, which causes your transmission to act funny.ill get back to you with a method on checking them and a list of codes to get you started, but dont go and ask for a new transmission. it might not be necessary.

depends on the mileage on it...and if the price is so cheap...?
- if the actual owner had it looking like a piece of s.... it is surely not well serviced and such a big car has many parts which could go broken after 21years of service....
- the rear windows are probably only locked (child safety)
better go for a smaller, newer car if you cannot fix anything by yourself...

Ask your mechanics to look into these things: Plug Coils. (Pic below)
Better replace with Used ones (Japan made) from half-cuts than to buy brand new genuine Honda (Thai made) because the latters only last me for less than 18 months ! (Not to mention costing an arm and a leg !)VTEC engine required 4 nos; I-DSI needed double (8 nos) due to 8 spark plugs within.......all the best, Billy.

I have a 2001 Volvo s60 t5 with 150k miles that needs a new transmission, would it be worth it to put a new one in it or should I just get another s60 for about 5k?

New original transmission installed costs probably almost the same. Rummaging thru junk yards you could get a little driven transmission for some 500$ and giving another 500$ to the garage it would be worth while.

So, if you can find reasonable used transmission - throw it in. If not - it's probably not worth it and you'll be better off by buying another S60.

I got a 1997 chevy k1500 with a 350 in it. i know its gonna cost alot to put a diesel in it but i want to know what i would all need to convert it over might try to get a 6.6L duramax or possible a 6.5L...

By the time you purchase a decent diesel engine and install all of the required components, you may have over $10,000 in it. The engine will be heavier, so the front suspension will need to be beefed up. Will the gearing in the transmission and rear end be correct for the new engine? What is required to mate the engine to the transmission. Like it or not, buying the whole vehicle new or used will be much better.

New engine for '92 Camry wagon?

a new engine is $25-35,000 dollars(if Toyota even has them) The rebuilt engines are very good. 3 yrs-unlimited miles on repairs/replace engine. Get a name brand engine like Jasper or Atk or BulletProof or Gopher. These ARE Toyota engines rebuilt(sometime better than original) The transmission has evidently been a great one(mine has 185,000 miles).

You've done great on this car. But to replace engine and transmission; you looking labor and parts:$7-8,000. If you fix it, it will last forever, and you'll know it's good.

Or you could buy a certified used Toyota, and buy an extended warranty.

The only other thing is to buy new-$20-25,000 for a new Camary v/6 ( I don't know if they even make the wagon anymore)

I hope this has helped. Good Luck with whatever you decide.

The automatic transmission in these cars are known for early failure. They are very complex and often cost more to rebuild than it would be to buy a new one. I know that many transmission shops wont even touch this car. Your best bet would be to search your local junkyards and find a transmission from a car that was wrecked (you know it was working when wrecked) or a transmission from a junkyard that will guarantee it's functionality. A new transmission will cost about $2,000 -$3,000 installed, depending on where you go. If the car is in good shape, it may be worth saving. In great condition it's worth about $3,000. Keep that in mind. If it's not in great shape, it might be a good idea to find a different car. Good luck.
