Can I just replace the third brake light bulb only ..just the bulb.on a 2005 Chevy Malibu LS.or do I have to replace the hole brake light itself..

from inside the trunk looking up at the light First, gently work the gray, carpet like cover loose from the area around the tail light ,(this may give you a little trouble). Once you have done this, you will see three silver nuts. These must be unscrewed. The lower left nut must be accessed through a hole next to where the trunk lid fits. (The screws are permanently attached to the lens housing so will not drop into obscurity when the nuts are removed). After removing the nuts, GENTLY work the lens housing away from the car. You may need a screw driver to unseat the housing, but just be gentle.

You will find three bulbs inside the lens. The brake light bulb is on the lower right side. Simply pull the old bulb out and insert the new one.

Just reverse these directions to reassemble the housing.

Is there a trick to getting to the rear turn signal on a 2003 ford focus hatchback. I had removed the screw to the lens cover but I still cannot gain access to the turn signal bulb to replace it.

1. Make sure the headlamp control

is in the OFF position and then

open the hatchback.

2. From inside the luggage

out.

5. Pull the bulb straight out of the socket.

Install in reverse order.

How do you change rear windshield brake light bulb in 1988 olds 88?

Hello there,

First of all, it isn't all that easy or quick. First, gently work the gray, carpet like cover loose from the area around the tail light ,(this may give you a little trouble). Once you have done this, you will see three silver nuts. These must be unscrewed. The lower left nut must be accessed through a hole next to where the trunk lid fits. Best of luck.

Replacing rear brake light

From inside the trunk, behind the carpet that covers the back of the taillight. You will need to remove the retaining nuts.

The tail light assembly is attached to the Trunk Lid itself. You must use a deep socket and remove 7 nuts.. 3 from each side and one in the center. The entire back end assembly will come free. All bulbs are the same P161-1a (P161 1 AMP) they are the size of your small finger nail and not easy to find. Try to buy 2-3 before you start the job. I thought I had 1 bulb burned out, but it ended up being 3. Give the bulb sockets an 1/8 turn clockwise to release it, then pull the bulb straight out. Reverse the order for assembly. They look like little flash bulbs from the old 120 flim cameras.

Hope helped (remember comment and rated this).

How do I change brake light bulb of Nissan Sentra 2008

Was able to complete this job successfully:
It's a little tricky to do without pictures, but I don't have any available right now.
  1. Access the trunk
  2. Remove the material covering the light. You'll need to remove the black pegs by lifting the centre part. A flathead screw-driver will help. There are 2 to remove -- one directly behind the brake light and another at the top of the trunk.
  3. Pull back the material to expose the brake light wiring and the metal frame of the car.
  4. There are 2 nuts / screws to remove near the entrance of the trunk. Both are about 4 inches apart and hold the tail light's cover in place. Remove both.
  5. Using a bit of force, you will be able to pull off the entire tail light from the frame of the car. This is done on the exterior of the car.
  6. Rotate the problematic light from it's housing (it should come off with ease) and pull it out of the socket. Brake light and indicator are a 3057K bulb.

Replacement of rear outside tail light assembly

If you're asking how do you change a taillight bulb, then follow this procedure:

Open the trunk lid.

Disconnect the connectors from the taillights (taillight bulb connectors are visible by looking inside the trunk at the back of the tail lamps.) There may be an interior trunk trim panel that you have to take off but in most cases its just a series of thumb screws that hold them in.

Brake Lights/Taillights: 21/5 W

Rear Turn Signal Light: 21 W

Back-up Light: 21 W

Rear Side Marker Light: 5 W

Turn the bulb sockets 45 º counterclockwise to remove the bulbs.

If you're removing the taillamps with the bumper off there are 3 nuts and screws that hold the taillight to the rear panel of the car that have to come off from the inside of the trunk.
Remove the nuts and screws, then remove the taillight.

hope that answers your question

2005 kia rio brake light

I did it!!! To change the left brakelight, you open the hatch and remove the two screws on the right side of the light assembly. Then remove the cubby hole inside the left side of the hatch. Inside you will see 3 hex nuts. You only have to remove the one in the center (closest to you) not the ones down and inside. Once you remove that nut, pull the light assembly off (from the outside). There is a plug that will be holding it on. I carefully **** a straight screwdriver in the narrow side just to get it to move out a little, then you grab the whole thing and pull it out, you may have to wiggle it some. It seems like it will break, but it won't. It's just a metal thing sticking into a plug. The whole assembly will pull out (not too hard so you don't break any wires or connectors) then you follow the instructions to replace the bulb. Once the bulb is replaced, you simply line up the metal thing as you push the assembly back on. You might have to smack (open bare handed please) to get it back in. Replace all screws and stuff and that's it!

Tail light installation

1. Use a "star" screwdriver to unscrew the two black screws on the outside.
On the inside if there is a canvas remove this by gently unscrewing the two black plastic screws

2. Use a No. 8 spanner to remove the nut on the inside.

3. Pull gently the whole casing containing all the rear lights(brake/turn
signal/reverse/blinkers)

4. Since you already oend the casing, you might as well make sure the rest ofthe bulbs are good.

5. Determine which bulb needs replacement by switching your lights on and have someone step on the brakes for you.( with the ignition turned on)

6. Remember not to lose the screws Replace everything as it was
