SOURCE: illustrated diagram on how to remove speed sensor for windstar 98

The Vehicle Speed Sensor is located on transaxle, at the rear of the engine. I would check the harness connector to be sure it is clean and connected tightly. Also check the wiring for cuts and chaffing. Since it is fairly inexpensive, only about $42.00 from Ford, you may want to consider replacing it, at least to eliminate it as a possibility. You may want to go to a muffler shop to have this done like speedy, I believe the flex pipe needs to be undone to get to the VVS. If there is an Auto Zone around your area, you could always ask them for the step by step instructions to replacing the VVS, and it's free of charge. Good luck and hope this helps.

Whats causing my battery not to stay charged on my 2006 mercury mariner. I have already checked the alternater and its ok

As long as the alternator is putting out between 13.8v and 14.5 its OK. Load test the battery. The only other thing is a parasitic draw. Usually happens from a light staying on or some other keep alive memory device in the car. Easy way is to take a 12v test light and remove the positive battery terminal. Place the test light between the terminal and the battery with everything off. If the light comes on bright you have a draw. Leave the test light attached and try removing a fuse at a time until it goes out. Once it does you found the circuit to go after.

4 cylinder oil capacity

Most 4 cylinder engines have a capacity of between 4 and 5 liters.
I would put 4 liters in , run the engine for a minute or two , wait a couple more minutes for the oil to drain back down into the oil pan , and then check the dipstick. Vehicle should be on reasonably level ground to get and accurate dipstick reading.
