The carrier has to be pressed off and on, if you don't have a press take it to a machine shop

I have a 1992 toyota pickup truck. It is 4x4, 3.0 v6, automatic trans. I recently threw my carrier bearing for the drive shaft. Replaced the bearing. Before incident, there was a very light grinding noise...

A noise is pretty tough to diagnose via e-mail. It could be any of the u-joints, differential, output shaft bearIng/bushing(transmission). I like put the rear axle on jackstands and run the truck in drive at idle and then I use a piece of 1 inch heater hose about 3 feet long as a stethoscope. Put one end against your ear and the other in the area of the noise to pin point the offending part.

What is the part number for a carrier bearing on 1995 chevy camaro

(a little late in responding - but maybe someone will need this info).

If you mean the carrier bearing on the driveshaft - then you must have a v6 model. I would advise to skip replacing it and instead purchase a 1pc shaft (no carrier bearing). The cb is located near a Hi-Speed CV Joint which make changing the carrier a little difficult.
A new replacement 1pc driveshaft costs about $225.00
The carrier bearing itself may run $40-$140. ( http://www.fortwayneclutch.com/index.php/driveshaft-parts/carrier-support-bearings/gm/1993-2002-chevy-camaro-v6-pontiac-firebird-v6-carrier-bearing-new-f-body-carrier-bearing-for-v6-models-pn-s-3r80-40.html ) - for reference...
You could also check a junk yard for a 1pc oem shaft (most shafts there are bent or have bad uj's and will cost $$ to have fixed )
>1994-2002 f-body models all have the same length from the seal of the transmission to the center of the uj @ the diff.
>when looking for an oem 1pc shaft you will find them in Steel and Aluminum. Slight differences in length when measuring center to center of the universal joints ( 40 7/8" - 40 1/2" ) - but the slip yokes vary in length, weighted / non-weighted..etc = this will make it appear the the shafts are different.
>>watch out for oem shafts with the weighted slip yoke from manual 6spd v8 models. This slip yoke may hit the trans/exhaust mount that is used on v6 models.!!

How to rear axle on chevy express van 1500

You want to know how to remove the axle correct ? There are clips inside the rear carrier that hole the axles from running out . You need to remove the the bolts on the back of the rear carrier but make sure that you can get the fill plug out first so you can put oil back in it . The clips come out like nothing you can do it with your fingers you need to replace the seals and look at the axle shaft and condution of the bearings replace as required also check to see if the vent is clear on the carrier the oil is heavy and expands alot this will blow the axle seals . The older it is the more likely it is that you need axle s or bearings but you will need new seals if you remove the axles

1988 chevy s10 long bed carrier bearing replaced now has bad vibrataion

This could be because you did not mark the drive shaft when you removed it and this will cause a vibration. Before removing drive shaft you need to mark it so when you reinstall it you put it back in the same place. So where it attaches to the rear end on the yoke you mark the shaft and the yoke part.Hope this helps.Good luck.

Carrier bearing

There are only two bolts that hold the carriier bearing to the crossmemmber under the truck. You do, however, have to remove the drive shaft so that you can get the carrier bearing off of it. It is pressed onto the driveshaft.

How do I do a front drive shaft on a 99 silverado? My ujoint is out towards the back. I can see the front just has the 4 bolts to take that apart. what I am wondering is if the back slides out of the deal...

I see that the solution given is for an axle shaft and not the drive shaft that was asked about. I am 99% sure that if you take out the bolts the other end will slide out of the t-case. Then the u-joint can be replaced as normally done.

Need directions for replacing a hub bearing assembly on my chevy silverado 1500, 2003, 4 wheel drive pickup.

REMOVE BRAKES, ON BACK SIDE OF SPINDLE REMOVE FOUR RETAINING BOLTS AND HUB ASSEMBLY SHOULD COME OFF.. MAY HAVE TO TAP WITH A HAMMER TO BREAK FREE FROM THE SPINDLE... BE SURE TO THOUOUGHLY CLEAN THE SPINDLE BEFORE INSTALLING NEW BEARING ASSEMBLY.
