The starter solenoid is on the starter it,s self and that is likely what you need to replace,or the connection from the starter field wire to the bottom post has come loose and just needs to be tightened.

What is a v tec solenoid

Hi ,V TEC is a motor type used in Honda model cars, the solenoid is on the side of your starter motor and it causes the start gear to push out and line up to the main flywheel to turn your engine over ,the solenoid can sometimes repeatedly "click" when it malfunctions ,this can be very intermittant and embarrassing to say the least. when it starts doing this i strongly suggest you simply get the model engine it has (from the ID plate under the bonnet ) and phone your closest Honda car dismantler or wrecker or junkyard and ask them for a replacement starter motor, they dont sell solenoids seperately unless you buy brand new which may be an extreme price.the second hand starter motor will usually come with a 3 month warranty and are not too expensive.Have it fitted by an auto electrician or a good mechanic and you'll be fine .THANK YOU for using FixYa

Won't start. The battery seems charged ( lights are bright). It was clicking when I turned the key, but not now.

First, take your battery in and have it checked. You may have a dead cell in the battery, or it may be too weak to turn the starter. You could also connect jumper cables for a boost and see if it will start.
If it still doesn't start, you will need to replace your starter, unless the Starter Solenoid is seperate, which I don't think it is.

Car clicks over but don't start.. is the cylinoid seperate from the starter in this model... battery fully charged and power is good so it is either the starter or the cylinoid?

if the you hear a clicking than go to the solenoid and try and cross over the 2 posts if the starter engages than it is the solenoid that is bad... if not than the starter is bad.

Car won't start makes clicking noise

if this clicking is comming from the starter then the problem is burned electrical contacts in the starter solenoid, this is common with Japanese made Nippondenso style starters and Mitsubisihi starters, (your car uses one of these types) you can replace the solenoid seperate from the whole starter but you must remove the starter to do the work so the best thing to do is just buy a rebuilt starter.

Van won't start. Just makes a clikcing noise. Horn sounds weak.

THIS IS CAUSED BY A DEFECTIVE STARTER MOTOR SOLENOID, REMOVE AND REPLACE THE STARTER OR JUST REPLACE THE SOLENOID ON TOP OF THE STARTER IF YOU CAN BUY IT SEPERATE.

Location of starter relay on 2000 satuen sedan

hi from uk the starter relay is a heavy duty relay known as the starter solenoid which if you look at the startermotor you will see a cylinder attached to it on the side and has the cable(positive + ) attached along with a thinner cable to a terminal on solenoid with lock nut ? alsoyou will see a seperate thin wirewhich is connected to a seperate push on spade or round terminal ? this is the solenoid energizer wire which activates starter when key start position is selected ensure all these terminals are clean/secure also battery terminals? then make sure the earth wire from _ neg terminal on battery to engine and/or chassis is also clean/secure from your symptoms it may be the solenoid energizer wire defect ? hope this helps you sort the problem? but by all means come back with update on progress best wishes from uk

Starter won't engage - won't start.

2nd click could be fuel pump engaging...what about the fuses under the hood... is there gas getting to the engine?? is there a safety shut off switch that needs resetting? have you checked the ground wire?

Car wont start

The "click" is a common sound you hear when you have a bad starter solenoid.  I would need to know your engine size to tell you if the solenoid comes with the starter or if it is seperate.  If it comes with, have your starter tested at an auto parts store.  Most of them do it for free.  Check your main fuse box in the engine compartment for any blown maxifuses.

Clutch Adjustment the problem?

If the starter is good but does not engage then you may have a bad starter solenoid. This is a seperate component which send the electrical pulse to the starter. This is actually what you will hear click and not the starter itself.
