It became only while the car was idling, now it's anytime, anywhere, and never on a consistent basis. The engine simply dies, turns itself off. When it happens, the check gauges light comes on. Nothing...

is your stereo the OEM (factory original) model? Does the car have a factory-installed anti-theft system? If the answer to both is Yes, you may have a logic conflict since many anti-theft systems go to and through the car's stereo. If you still have the original owner's manual, check the section on anti-theft or security systems. It may list a reset procedure that returns the system to factory defaults. If you have an aftermarket anti-theft system, you may have to disable it until troubleshooting and repair processes have been accomplished. Incidentally, by the car sitting without a battery for five years, all E-prom programming may have been degraded or lost. As for the volume increasing, some GM/Delco radios have a volume compensation feature that increases volume levels as speed increases.

Antenna relay switch

is it original antenna and radio? the antenna runs on a seperate switch oor goes up and down with radio on and off switch? if it is original stereo that is original chances are the antenna is broken and stuck in up position the mast may be purchased at dealership but motor may also be no good or not far behind. Listen at antenna for motor noise when radio is turned off if you hear the motor the plasic that drives it inside is broken.

My original stereo does not turn on

First thing to do, if your original stereo does not turn on, is check the fuse panel. Most all original stereo's will have a fuse in the panel. Check in your owners manual for location. Sometimes they will have a inline fuse, but that is normally on after market powerful ones with power amps and all that. But first step is locating the fuse in the panel inside. Sometimes it will be in a fuse box under hood. Check manual for area it is located. Thanks Mike. mc1bean.gif

Ford Festive Radio Code

Check the your owners manual, if your lucky the original owner wrote it down when they bought the care. If not you will need to get the code from the dealer. You might even need to take the car to the dealer to have the radio unlocked. Some auto manufacturers have designed their radios to require a code whenever the battery is disconnected, in order to make the stereos worthless to theives, and thereby discourage theft. Ususally it just creates headaches for the owner of the vehicle.

1992honda accord has theft problem with stereo system

umm... please explain what the problem is...most honda stock stereos have a code the needs to be entered before you can use the stereo...which the original owner was given. if you pull the battery cable off...the stereo lost power..therefore it needs the code re-entered...otherwise your gonna have to make your own music. you can install an after-market stereo as well to solve your problems if you cant get the code from Honda or the past owner(s) hope this helps.

Stereo doesnt work

You are probably dealing with an anti-theft feature and you will probably have to contact a dealer to regain use of it. It has lost its 'authorization' code and you (or the dealer) will have to restore it.
I don't know how many thieves this frustrates but it sure frustrates the legitimate owners.
