Ren a continuity test on the wiring from the guage and the tank, also make sure you have a good ground to the tank

My 2000 Chevy s15 Rpm and Gas Gauge is not working

I didn't see an s15 in that model year, in my database?
If the speedometer works but the tach doesn't, I think something is wrong with instrument cluster?
GM has had a problem with fuel gage sending units. The sending units are not hard wired to instrument cluster, they send signal to pcm, the pcm sends serial data to instrument cluster, telling the cluster the gage settings.
It may be possible to use different size resistors in place of the fuel level sending unit, to see if fuel gage reacts properly to different resistors, if the gage reacts properly, then I think the problem is the fuel gage sending unit.

1996 ford f150 front gas tank gauge reads empty but tank is full pump in front tank was replaced about a year ago what could problem be

When pump was replaced, did you also replace sending unit? It is usually a good idea to replace sending unit when replacing pump. The sending unit also "sends" information about the fuel level to your fuel gage. It is also possible the float on the sending unit is stuck in the low fuel or empty position on the sending unit. Although on some vehicles you can replace individual parts of the fuel delivery system, it is usually a good idea to replace all the internal parts of the sending unit assembly at the same time. After all, most fuel tanks can be a real pain to gain access to the inner workings of the fuel delivery system, so why take the chance of having to gain access again.
Good luck.

How do i check fuel sending unit with multimeter without dropping gas tank. fuel gauge isn't working and didin't want to drop it yet

Find the wires that run to your fuel gage. Hook one wire to one side of a "D" cell battery and the other wire to the other end of the battery. Your fuel gage should peg itself. If so the gage is good. That will tell you that more than likely the sending unit in the fuel tank is bad, If that is the case you will need to drop the fuel tank to remove the sending unit.

1999 Chevy Cavalier fuel gauge doesn't regulate the amount of gas properly. What causes this?

Hello
This problem is caused by a defective fuel gage sending unit, the sending unit is located inside the fuel tank and is part of the fuel pump module but is sold separately in a kit from ACDelco, to replace the fuel gage sending unit requires the fuel tank be removed from the car. Below is a price and part number courtesy of rockauto.com

1996 chevy cavalier gas gauge stopped working. could it be a fuse???

One fuse operates all the gages, so no the fuse is not the problem, the problem is that the gas gage sending unit (a variable resistor) that senses the level of fuel in the gas tank is defective and needs to be replaced, this is the most common problem with any fuel gage problem

Fuel Sending Unit

You do need to replace the guage sending unit in the gas tank, u must remove the gas tank, this is not really a job for a DIYer.

I have a 94 chevy s10 and my gas reads empty while i drive.but when i shut off the truck the gauge moves to different readings.

Is......the problem--"the gas gage reads empty when there is fuel in the tank. OR, The gage moves when the key to turned off ?

If it's the first,
You will need to test the gage and through process of elimination, determin if the Sending unit inside the fuel tank has gone Bad.

If its the second ? - Electrical gauges will move when powered down. Normal

Testing the gauge may not be easy - just depends on your ability.
It is a simple 2-wire gauge circuit, when disconnect (usually need the fuel tank) the gage reads in one direction (either full or empty)
then when shorted-the gage reads in oppisite direction.

Of course you must select the correct wires or you may short out the wrong circuits!! Most GM vehicles use a purple wire & black wire.

A quick method I have used to check the in-take part of the gauge is this.
1st. know there is gas - 1/2 tank works best.
2nd driver's door open, key in run position, engine not running.
3rd gently lift up on the door then let if come back down, gently.
just enough to cause the gas to slosh around.
4th - keep an eye on the gas gage, a bad sending unit in the take will show up as a "twitchy" needle.

Of course, if the gage never leaves empty - sloshing won't work.
I have a known good sending unit I can plug into the vehicle and simulate different levels of fuel - if the gas gage works, I know the problem is in the tank.

Let us know.

1996 Plymouth Grand Voyager Fuel Gage issue

It sounds like the fuel level sending unit located on the fuel pump is malfunctioning. The solution for this is to have it replaced. You can do this yourself but I wouldn't recommend it as the vehicle needs to be lifted and the fuel tank needs to be dropped out. This can be preformed for about 100-150 in most shops.
