The back doors locks to my 1996 Corsica have locked in the locked position and will not allow me to shut the doors! The locks are electric locks. The front doors work fine but the back doors are unable to shut, because the horse shoe shaped lock apparatis in turned sideways in the locked position. I can hear the lock ,lock when I move the lock switches on the inside of door panel, but the horse shoe shaped parts in the door won't move. please help!

Unlock the door, hold the door handle in the open position and with a screwdrive you should be able to slide the latch open

CAUTION LOCKING WITH REAR DOOR CHILDPROTECTORS Turn the lock knob to the "LOCK" position as shown on the label. Trunk opens by itself. I check it when I get in and out and it opens itself.

electric truck opener? inside cable release beside the door ?
if electric check to make sure something isn't hitting the switch when you shut your door. if cable beside the door make sure its clear of dirt under it preventing it from going all the way back down to lock position. also check the latch position to make sure it is fully letting it latch around the lock bar. simple adjustment of the latch would fix that.

1995 ford futura doors wont lock

Inside the door is an electric motor that pulls the door lock down to the locked position, either the rod has come off to the door latch from the door lock motor or the motor has failed. Remove the door panel and check it for power when the button is pressed for the power locks, if it gets power then it is most likely the motor that is the problem.

Driver and passenger doors will not shut, locks in doors are in the lock position that will not allow doors to close.

use a big screw driver and pry them while u pull the door handle. u may need to do both top and bottom depending on your car. they will go back but its not alway easy. but just pry hard then hit the door handle and u should be good.

Ignition and steering wheel on 1996 Corsica are locked.

Your key or the lock cylinder may be overly worn, to the extent that the key no longer moves the pins to the correct positions to allow the cylinder to rotate.

Assuming that the lock cylinder hasn't been progressively getting more difficult to turn, you may be able to aggressively rotate the steering wheel against the lock back and forth while attempting to rotate the key to disengage a frozen steering lock.

The sliding door on our 1996 Toyota Sienna is broken shut (it cannot be opened). The door button on the inside nor the handle on the outside can mechanically effect the door. We do not have automatic door...

It sounds like the cable/bar in the door is broken or stuck

1. you will need to remove the door lining to get at the problem

2. could also be the door lock stuck in the lock position (does the door feel like it locks or unlocks when you use the lock)

3. could be the handle cable/ bar

NOTE some vehicles have cables while others have bars play with everything while you have the guts exposed this should help to locate the problem if nothing is moving while you play with the lock or handle this could be the problem
NOTE If nothing seems to be missing or out of place it could simply need to be lubed at the point where the door locks to the frame

Ignition locked in run position and will not shut off

need new ignition switch, or if it's an automatic, the shifter linkage might be stuck or broken, (linkage that allows key to turn off when put in park.)
