We have replaced fuel pump in a 98 ego metro LSi drove home ran fine. Now it won't start any ideas why it won't start.

Pam, was the fuel filter replaced at the same time that the fuel pump was replaced? If not, replace the fuel filter. Often, the filter will get clogged with debris. When that happens, the fuel pump will be ruined. Replacing the pump without replacing the fuel filter can ruin the new pump. It is also possible that your new fuel pump is defective. Now that most replacement parts are made in China and the third world, there is virtually NO quality control. I'm a professional mechanic and defective brand new parts are a BIG problem in this industry. Was the fuel pump relay replaced when the new fuel pump was installed? Always install a new relay, as a failing [your old] fuel pump will often damage the relay. This will cause problems with the new fuel pump. I would advise that you install a fuel pressure test gauge to the engine. This will allow you verify whether or not the engine is receiving enough fuel pressure. If the pump works but the pressure is low, also check the fuel pressure regulator. The web links below should help you.

FYI, there is also a "sock" style pre-filter on the fuel pump. This also needs to be replaced any time that you replace the fuel pump.

Jaguar fuel problems

Its issue with fuel filter.Have you also replaced the fuel filter too.If its blocked then it can also cause this problem. Also in some cases its seen that new fuel pump comes out faulty. Was it original fuel pump or aftermarket fuel pump.Get the fuel pressure checked. If the pressure is low, then it can be issue with the new fuel pump.------------For more help Click the link below:-----http://repairhelpcenter.blogspot.in/2012/05/jaguar-fuel-pump-problems.html

A 460 engine that acts like its not getting enough fuel. Will start but runs as if only on half the cylinders missing badly or such.

Check your running fuel pump pressure. If (as I suspect) it's too low, first try changing your fuel filter. After changing the filter, recheck the running fuel pump pressure. If still low, check you fuel pump pressure regulator. If OK, you may need a new fuel pump.

Also probably would be a good idea to replace you air filter.

Good luck!

No fuel delivery from the Brand new fuel pump and filter. 1988 Ol

The pump is only suppose to run for 3 seconds if the engine is off. It will only stay pumping if the engine is running so the circuitry seems to be just fine. You prabably just got a bad pump again. Its common for repair shop to put 2, 3, and 4 pumps sometimes before they get one that works. We find it very common that a gauge will malfunction and the real problem is you just ran out of gas.

Low fuel pressure

make sure fuel filters are fresh new and installed correctly this will give bad low preasure
the used pump i wouldnt even deal with i would go out and buy the oem part needed brand new it would be like putting used oil back in my truck for an oil change
what would be the point of oil change if your just going to use old oil
on the chassis there should be a fuel pump
in the gas tank there should be a fuel sending unit with filter on it
change the filter out in tank these get debry clogs from bad cheap gas
this you need to drop tank pull out sending unit with filter and replace most people dont realize this at all that the inside tank has to be serviced on a routine schedule every hundred thousand miles this will keep flow good
