Question about 1990 Honda Accord
Contrary to popular belief, the battery light does not tell you if your battery is any good or not.
What it does do is indicate if the cars charging system is working. If the charging system is not working the battery will go flat quite quickly and that is why the indicator light has a battery on it as it is informing you that if you don't get the alternator fixed, you battery will go flat.
So, the light is indicating a fault with your cars charging system.....check the fanbelt first.....is it on and OK?
If fanbelt is OK then the fault is more than likely inside your alternator and should be checked byu putting a voltmeter on your battery terminals with the engine running....you should get at least 13v and up to 14.5v when you increase engine RPM when you have load on the system (headlights on, wipers on, blower fan on)
If you get a reading other than above, then best to take it to the garage to get it fixed/replaced.
