Question about 2001 Audi TT

2 Answers

On my 2001 Audi TT i upgraded to the stage 3 big turbo setup everything is working good except for when i run the car at the track. While racing the car at max rpm the turbo seems like its chocking like it bogs at top end when it should be a clean spool. I noticed that there is a hose in the middle of the turbo that is disconnected not hooked up to anything maybe that could be the problem??? This is the vehicle specs are as followed Fuel pump is walbo max capacity Injectors 630cc Adjustable fuel rail Color Nimbus Gray Baseball Glove interior Forged Exhaust Full system Front mount intercooler B+m Short shifter Turbo Garret G30 Flashed ecu from unitronics chipped

the turbo is a Turbo Garret G-30 the biggest setup for the car that could possibly be put on it. The car is 1.8t quattro 225hp engine the 5v the waste gate is internal.

Hi,

Could you let me know if it is a GT3071 or GT3071R.

GT30 is the series of Garret family it belongs too...

In most case's it's just a case of connecting the waste gate actuator hose to a vacum point or connection on the intake manifold.

These usually have a vacum port on the intake housing of the turbo. But that's where the hose needs to go.
What boast pressure are you running the engine at?

If the waste gate was not connected then it would be running at some quite high boost pressure in the are of 20 - 25 psi

Yes, of course. The hose in the middle of the turbo must be connected correctly! Does the turbocharger have internal wastegate assembly with high psi base spring actuator?
Could you send me back a small photo with this hose in the middle of the turbo that is disconnected not hooked up to anything?

This is the turbocharger kit (APR Transverse 1.8T Stage III)?

A6 turbocharged. Whyu does it smoke when it covers a 120km per hour?

I am going to say 'blown turbo'. As I understand it, they needs replacing every few years. They are susceptible to heat and incredible revolutions. They have to be lubricated, the seals go, and you get smoke.

check for sure the batt and charging.that can cause lots off problem.
weak batt gifs weak spark charge chould be round 14.7 not 14.9
that toomuch also not good.check sparkplug wires and rotor,if needed,

Removing turbo from audi tt 225 quattrro

Yep, it is possible to get turbo off without pulling engine. I had a TB break at 85000 miles and did the repair at home (2 bent exhaust valves, 1 intake valve). Getting the turbo disconnected from the exhaust manifold was the single toughest part of this repair. It is attached with 3 reduced head socket bolts (appear to made from stainless steel). Eventually had to drive out one of the bolts...

Have a 2001 Audi TT quattro turbo. Ran fine and had a check engine light on i thought is was from a low quality fuel that i had in it. So i decided to just disconnect the negative battery cable for a while...

disconnecting the battery in a 2001 does nothing for the light reset.. that only works on 95 and older units.....sounds as though you triggered the security system....you can try to shut all doors and with key lock and unlock then lock and unlock the drivers doors attempting to reset the alarm... if no good stick key in ignition and turn to the run position let stand for 10 minutes. then turn key off. exit car unlock and lock door again then try to start if no good let me know

Audi tt remote won't work, i,ve tried everything

The remotes have to be readapted by a dealer scan tool or someone who has Vagcom.  Make sure you have both keys when doing this.  If adaption doesn't take then there is a good chance the remote/s are bad.

Difference between Audi A6 1.8t engine and 1.8 engine

It makes a big difference in acceleration. When the turbo spools up you will feel it in the seat of your pants. The turbo force feeds the engine air. More air means the engine can burn more fuel and more fuel means more POWER!!
