Sounds like the sensor is failing, the info sent to pcm is wrong info from cam sensor. if it's bad, you'll run rough or not at all.

it might be the cam shaft sensor it might be the crank shaft sensor the best thing to do is replace them bolth. but it does sound like it may be either one because if one goes out the other will still work but when starting the car it will take longer for it to read from either or the one sensor that is still working because they work together to tell the system to deliver the gas. im pretty positive that it is either the cam or crank shaft sensor

How to change cam positiom sensor in 2000 dodge

The cam position sensor on the 2.7 engine is on the
driver side of your engine, right in the front of the head. there's a 10mm bolt. undo the bolt and pull it straight out. push the new one into the hole, and hold pressure on it until it's bolted back in.

If you have the 3.5, the cam position sensor is located on top of the timing cover. I just unbolt the upper intake just enough to lift it up a little. unbolt the cam sensor, pull it out and install the new one keeping pressure on it until it's bolted in.

I hope this helps

Cut off when I put my foot on the gas. Now it will turn over and will not start

it might be the crank shaft postion senser or the cam shaft postion senser. i was having the same problem but it would stall out to when i was driving. so try that i had both replaced and have not had a problem since.
