SOURCE: 2004 nissan quest DTC P0507. Can't get IAVL to

Have the car re-learn the larger amount
of air volume that the modification creates, here is the procedure for doing this. It's
similar to the ECU clearing procedure:
1) Drive the car to "warm up" temperature. Make sure your idle is close to 700 rpm.
2) Ensure any battery draining devices are off. Ie. headlights, interior dome lights, HVAC,
stereo.
3) Turn the car ignition key to "OFF"
4) Wait ten seconds
5) Turn the key to "ON" (not start)
6) Wait three seconds.
7) Perform the following five times in five seconds or less. Fully press the gas pedal and
release.
8) Wait seven seconds from last of the five releases.
9) Fully press the gas pedal and hold down. Within ten seconds the "Service Engine Soon"
light should begin to blink.
10) Wait another ten seconds (while still holding the gas pedal) and the "Service Engine
Soon" light should stop blinking.
11) As soon as it stops blinking, release the pedal, start the car and check the idle
(should still be around 700 rpm)
12) Let the car idle at 700 rpm or so for about 25 seconds, rev the engine a few times and
then let it return to idle.
13) Shut the car down.
You car has now relearned the new air volume, which should be different than it was
(stock). You may notice a bit of a rough idle for the next 20 miles. This is normal and
will go away. The reason you should make sure idle is around 700 rpm (full warm up) is
because the car measures the air curve in relation to idle, so you don't want to confuse
it.

You don't have a coil pack, it appears you have coil on plug ignition, One coil for each spark plug.

How often should i tuneup my 2004 nissan maxima

Same as on all your vehicles

The same as you have done all your life

Tune-ups went by the wayside 25 years ago

Spark plugs etc--every 3 years or 70,000 miles
Filter -every 3 years or 30,000 miles
Brake fluid every 2 years
Trans& Power Steering every 30,000 miles

Set up your own schedule from past experience

I assume you keep no log book, if have to ask

How do I know if it is time to change the spark plug for Nissan Quest 2004?

When was the last time the spark plugs where change? A good indicator is to take them out and examine them for corrosion and/or damage. Also, another indicator is poor fuel economy and your vehicle may have a higher than normal idle.

2004 Nissan Quest - no fire to spark plug. could you tell me what to look for.

If your Distributor its OK, then check the connections to and from the Distributor and Coils. Get a test light and start backprobing the power feed to the coil and see if you are getting switching voltage and check the harness to the distributor to see if it is getting power.

Check the fuse for the ignition circuit too. If you did the disassembly and did not disconnect the battery there is a chance that a fuse blew.

Hope helps, keep in touch and remember rated this help.

My 2004 Nissan Quest SE has 92,000 miles. Car feels like it is about to stall when standing at traffic light. Took vehicle to Tire Kingdom and requested tune up estimate, was told it would cost around...

If I got $ 800.00 every time I replaced spark plugs and plug wires I would be living on a tropical island !
The almost stalling may not even be about spark plugs, which by the way are about $6.50 at any auto parts store.
I would think you should have a check engine light coming on in the dash, or at least have someone plug a scan tool in to retrieve any codes.
Find a reliable auto center, and have them take a look.
Please let me know what you find.

2004 Nissan Quest engine coolant drain procedure

There should be a petcock on the bottom of the radiator. If not, remove the lower hose, and this will drain the coolant. You may not need to drain it, as I usually don't when I do them. You will lose a little out of the hoses, but it is up to you.

Hi Sandy,
I did a search for 2004 Nissan Quest spark plug change and saw this link. It looks like you have to take it in to the dealer/shop or have a knowledgeable friend.

I have a 2004 SE and just reached 100K, so I'll have to look into this myself. Good luck to you and me both!
