There is an intake injection canister that will get carbon in it and will shut off the engine at low idle. its an easy fix, can be done in less than 20 minutes.

IAC Idle Air Control --solenoid valve near the
throttle body

He can remove it & try cleaning it or replace it,IF it is just
an idle control issue

You can not have spark plugs in the motor for years

They should be changed every three years & clean any
ignition rotor & cap, if you even have that, may not

If you have never changed the oxygen sensor, that would help
Clean MAF Sensor & replace the air filter

Keep in mind that fuel pumps do fail,so don't run it out of fuel
& expect that some day if you have starting issues, to check for
a good battery & then fuel pressure at the motor

MY 220K MILE 1997 NISSA TRUCK ONCE IT WARMS UP (WILL NOT DO IT COLD LIKE AFTER 30 MIN ON) WILL IDLE VERY LOW, THEN STALL OUT, CHANGED OUT FUEL FILTER, DISTRIBUTER, CAP & ROTOR, PLUGS, WIRES,...

A throttle positioning sensor or idle sensor can cause these problems, low fuel pressure can cause these problems also low fuel pressure can be caused by a faulty fuel pressure regulator.

1990 full size blazer starts fine idles then dies

sounds real easy either a bad idle air control solenoid or more likley a blown throttle body gasket. to test fro a blown gasket, with engine running and cool spray carb cleaner or brake cleaner around base of tb were it bolts to intake. when it hits the bad area, should idle down and be normal for a second or 2. iac is possible, try this first since its so common and let me know

1999 VW Passat low idle

replace your fuel filter first. If that does not do it, then try an air-flow meter. (if the check engine light is on it may be an airflow meter.

2.4 olds alero enging stumble

The two most likly causes of your Idle problen are, low fuel pressure. try installing a new fuel filter. Or the other one is the Air Idle control valve, can cause the exact problem you discribed with a cold engine. Fuel Injection engines do not have a choke like carburated engines do. So the idle is computer controled thru the Air idle control valve.
