Check this Ford 429 engine...

1 - 5 - 4 - 2 - 6 - 3 - 7 - 8
The distributor rotor turns COUNTERCLOCKWISE

The marked # 1 position on the distributor cap faces to the rear and slightly towards the drivers side

The engine cylinders / spark plug locations are numbered:
firewall
4 - 8
3 - 7
2 - 6
1 - 5
front

Hope helps (remember rated and comment this).

I have a 89 ford mustang and the person who owned it before me did not tell me they replaced the motor with a 92 ford e-250 or e-350 van motor. I have wires and hoses everywhere that are just laying inside...

firts you are talking two diferent engines, a 5.0 from a mustang has the same firing order than a 5.8 on other hand a regular 5.0 non HO from a truck or car has a diferent firing order and they arent roller. so look up your options.

I need the firing order for a 351w

Open the hood on the vehicle. Look for a series of single-digit numbers that are factory-stamped on the intake manifold directly behind the distributor.the firing order should be 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8. hope this helps

I do not know if you have the 4.0L OHV V6, 4.0L SOHC V6, or the 5.0L V8; however I have included all of them below.

For the 4.0L V6:

For the 4.0L SOHC V6
Firing Order:
1-4-2-5-3-6
Cylinders:
...(back)
3............6
2............5
1............4
...(front)
Distributor:
(back)
1...2...3
5...6...4 (this was double checked)
(front)

For the 5.0L V8:
Cylinders:
.....(back)
4................8
3................7
2................6
1................5
.....(front)
Ignition Coil Connections:
