What size of starter for my 2001 pontiac montana?

The Montana only came with one engine size, unlike what others may think. Unfortunately, at the factory, two different starters were put in, one slightly larger than the other. I've run into this several times on the Montana. I'm not sure, but I think it has to do with whether or not your car has the heavy duty transmission(which is commonly(but not always) determined by your wheel base). The Montanas came in two different lengths.
I address it is by purchasing both, removing the old starter and matching it up to the new one, then return the one I don't use. I document it for my customer, that way they have a reference for the future.
if that isn't an option, then take the old one out, catch a ride to the auto parts store, and match it up there. That way, you are only out of pocket for one and you don't have to front for a core charge.
if that still isn't and option and you can get the car to start, drive it to the auto parts store, remove the starter in their parking lot, and match it up, then install your new one.

Can I replace the size 235/60 17 tires on my MOntana SV6 with size 225/60 17 tires?

You can, but the speedometer will be a bit off. It will register slightly faster since the 225/60/17 tire will be a bit shorter and skinnier.

I need new plastic wheel caps but dont know where

If you want to keep the originals you will have to order from the dealer or go to a salvage yard. The salvage yard will definately be cheaper.
You can also go to an auto parts store and get different styles if you don't mind changing the style. You only need to know the diameter of your wheel. That will be the last number on your tire size, probably a 15 or 16. You can usually get aftermarket wheel covers at different department stores too, in their auto department. Hope this helps.

Pontiac Montana overheating

How do you know the thermostat is ok? If in doubt replace it. Water pumps are a even bigger what if. Did he do a radiator flush? Cooling system flush of the engine? Cooling fans come on at what temp and go off when? Replace the engine temperature sensor? 6 years old is bound to have sensors and such go bad.

Discount tire has a website for different tire sizes and how the sizes affect the speedometer reading. I changed my tires from a 60 to a 65 series and gained about 5% better mileage. Basically my speedo shows 70 and I am doing 74. So I get 4 free miles every 70 miles on the odometer. Too much change will rob you of power.
