Question about 1990 Nissan 300ZX

2 Answers

My 300ZX does not start and it acts like the battery was removed. If I depress a switch under the hood it works again but not always. Is that switch the problem? Leo

I think it is activated/de-activated by the hood and the plunger is white.

I presume the switch is a starter interupt switch. it needs to be replaced with a new one that should sort out the problem.

Trying to locate safety start switch on a Honda CRV 2003

The starter safety switch, also called a clutch interlock switch on a manual ****** is usually located under the clutch pedal near the top where it goes through the firewall. Depressing the clutch activates it.

Interior lights will not go off

The interior lights are controlled by 2 fuses (accessory fuses , 1 in the kick panel under the dash and the other in the fuse box under the hood) , by door and trunk switches (located in the corner of the doors, (it depressed when a door is open) as well as a switch in the hood. try the following steps in the proceeding order

1.) try changing the hood light switch to off , there should be 3 settings (door, off, on) switch it to off , if its set to on it will remain on.

If the above fails chances are one of the door switch is shorting,

2.) open each door , 1 at a time , locate the switch the door pushes, Its on the car body and when the door closes it pushes in the switch. press each switch 1 at a time to find the shorting switch. once found , check that the door is closing properly and adjust toe lock by turning the screws and sliding it in until it works properly.

If the above fails chances are you have an electrical harness failure.

3.) pop the hood, locate the fuse box, locate the acc / accessory fues by using the diagram on the fuse box cover. remove the fuse. This will turn off all the accessory electrical so it wont drain your battery. Get the vehicle to a garage as soon as you could. Alternatively you can remove the fuse from the kickpanel under the dash. (here is a diagram on the cover).

In the unlikely case you cant locate the fuse, remove the negative battery pole, This will turn off all car electrical so your battery wont drain giving you enough time to get to a garage. Chances are it involves harness rewiring / relay failure which will need tracing and replacing and should always be done by a professional. Your vehicle is controlled by a computer and if the wires are shorted this can damage the cars cpu which will cost a lot to repair. So follow the above advice and if steps 1 and 2 fail will 3 is the best choice for you as well as a local garage.

I've had the same remote starter in my car for about 4 years (2002 Grand Am) and every now and then when I press and hold II for 2 seconds it will try to start a few times (without turning over the engine)...

Hello mlee.

What brand of remote starter is this?
It seems like your problem may be the under hood kill switch may be staying grounded.
Make sure that the hood when closed is depressing the hood pin down enough to open the circuit.
Try this. Go to your car and hit the start button, if on the first attempt it does not start push down on the hood in the area of the hood pin before it tries the second time. If it then starts the switch needs to be adjusted.
Give that a try.

I need to find the ecu relay for an 86 Nissan 300zx.

The ecu is probably under the passenger seat. The battery also has a fusible link which may be blown. Also follow the battery wiring to the regulator box. This may also be faulty

Check to see if you have power to them with a test light. If yopu do, replace bulbs, if you don't check ground wire and circuit breaker.

My car alarm is blinking but the remote doesn't work. I already replaced the battery to the remote so I know that's not the problem. If I open the car the alarm goes off and doesn't allow me to start the...

You need to first look under the drivers side dash area near the hood release/fuse panel area and see if there is a valet switch. The switch will look like a little toggle or a push switch. After you locate it, turn the ignition switch to the on position(dont start it) and flick the valet to the opposite position it is in now. If done correctly in most cases the red system light will stay a constant instead of off or blinking indicating you are in valet mode. Next try to start the engine. If this doesnt work you need to remove the alarm system and repair the ignition switch wiring or replace the electrical portion of the ignition switch. The aftermarket alarm cuts into the ignition switch wires and bypasses the start circuit through the alarm module. When disarmed the alarm completes the circuit and allows the car to start. Good luck hope this helps and please rate this.
