My car is making a clicking sound, thought it was the water pump but that isnt it. Also checked the air conditioner compressor. What else could it be?

Why does my air conditioner make my car stall?

If your A/C compressor clutch is binding or seized, - the extra load will slow down the engine as everything runs on 1 belt on this car - check your Freon level and refill or replace the clutch/compressor

Just fix the water pump. and now the air conditioner doesn't work. and just had freon put in.

Since all those things were just out, check the connector at the air conditioner compressor to make sure it is plugged it-also check the radiator fan harness and check if it is plugged in too, since the AC will not run if it is not hooked up.

I have a 1997 chev. lumina the air conditioner works fine for about 100 miles and then it stops cooling what would cause this ?

It could be needing a service to top off the cooling fluid if that isnt it could also be the clutch for the compressor..

unforutionatly your mechanic may be right if the ac compressor locked up it will eat the belt and make the other things not work like the water pump ,altanator, power steering.esay to check though remove belt see if you can turn the ac pump by hand.if you mechanic is worth his salt he will even show you this.

When you open the hood to your left (the passengers side) there is a belt on a pulley, is this the water pump - the car is making a noise that sounds like a loose belt?? Do you know what it could be, just...

You should only see one belt which powers the alternator, air conditioner compressor, power steering and water pump. Without hearing the sound it is hard to say which component could be the problem. However, If you cannot hear the noise when the air conditioner is off and the noise reappears when it is turned on it could be the A/C compressor. With the engine off you can inspect the belt for damage and make sure the pulley bolts and belt are tight. If a mechanic installed the pump they should take a minute to listen to the noise at no charge to explain the noise.

2005 Mitsubishi Lancer, replaced serpt. belt then when i turned on the air, it started squealing and couldn't steer..it was like it locked up. Asked a friend they said my air conditioner compressor is...

no that has nothing to do with it, i had that same problem first of all the serpt. belt is hooked up to the power steering pump, check the level and if its full the pump is not getting caught by the belt. what you should try is get a big screw driver push it towards the belt so if you are trying to tighten it and adjust the power steering pump, sometimes it gets loose as you try to change the pump

The ac compresor it dosen't start.pression is fine .the ac start to cooling and then stop.2004 bmw 325i

Hello. I think you mean "pressure" anyway there could be several reasons why your compressor isnt starting...
1 the relay or fuse is shot- check the fuse panel and pull the fuse with the car off and check to see if its blown. replace if it is.
2 the BCM or body control module is acting up- you are selecting a/c and it isnt telling the compressor to turn on. you could verify this by turning the a/c on and checking the voltage to the compressor with a multimeter- no voltage with a good fuse would be a good indication of this.
3 if the 1st two check out good then the problem could be with the compressor itself.
I hope that my suggestions help to point you in the right direction

2004 Ford Taurus V6 noise underhood appears to be belt

Sounds like a bad idler pulley,or belt tensioner. Most likely not water pump since the check engine light is not on. Altho it couold be the water pump and for some reason (bad sensor, burnt out light) the check engine isnt coming on. Either way it would be best to have it looked at.

Squealing noise

check all pulleys. and also, check the air conditioner compressor. it may need to be serviced. the compressor can make a squealing noise at times if the bearings are bad. make sure the tension is correct as well.

Change a water pump

1. Remove negative battery cable
2. Open radiator valve - drain cooling system
3. Remove cooling fan and shroud
4. Remove belt
5. Remove water pump pulley from hub
6. Remove hoses from water pump
7. Loosen heater hose coolant return tube mounting bolt and nut.
8. Remove the tube. Lose the O-Ring.
9. Remove water pump mounting bolts
10. Loosen the clamp on the bypass hose.
11. Remove the hose as you pull the pump away from the engine.

Hope this helps
