Question about 2003 BMW 325

1 Answer

I think my battery is dead. Nothing happened when I turned the key, so I push started it, and it started right up, but none of my dashboard features, (speedomador, fuel gauge, tach..) work at all. If replacing the battery, do the local auto shops carry them, or do I have to go to a dealer?

The dash not working indicates that you've "blown" a fuse, probably during the push starting process. Any auto shop can test/replace your battery with the correct type, and they can also check/replace the fuse for you -- and they'll charge considerably less than the dealer would.

My 1997 Land Rover Discovery 1 will not start. When I insert the key and turn it to the third position, none of the dashboard lights come on and the radio doesn't work. Tried jump-starting the car but...

While the voltmeter reads 12 volts doesn't mean that the battery is good. Have a load test done on the battery as it may have a dead cell. Jumping a battery with a dead cell will not work as all the power from the jumper goes straight to the dead cell

Focus 08 1.8 tdci completely dead no dashboard lights even.

You must take out the original battery because if it burned out the cells it will draw from the jump battery it doesn't matter that the cables are on the battery if still no start no click no remote Check for corrosion on all cables down to the starter and the block ground also the ground strap at the nose of the starter and the power distribution box cable from the alternator and battery clean it if the car still doesn't start that whining could've been the alternator check for battery voltage if none or very little this could be your problem and driving it just burned out the cells in your battery

I am unable to start my Ford Fiesta Edge 1.4 none of the lights show on the dashboard and I am unable to lock the car electronically. Please advise

It is a process of elimination, start with battery, do your headlights go on, and if so, when you attempt to start car, do lights dim, or not. If they dim, then battery is low or a bad cell exists which prevents starter from turning over engine. Most often it will be a corroded battery terminal, so check for white ash like substance on polls and connections to battery, loss of continuity is common problem whereby lights may come on, but starter which draws the most from battery will be the indicator of bad connection. Good luck

Unknown Driver on my 2004 chevy Tahoe

Hi:
When your vehicle says : unknown driver, instead of Driver 1 or driver 2, you have had your battery totally dead. so dead that all the programming was lost, the part about not staying started, or not going into gear is a bit baffling, unless your alternator is the real problem, and the battery has just enough charge to barely start your truck, and may need to be fully charged first and stay running . You will need to do remote and seat reprogramming, when you get this figured out
