Question about 1986 Ford Econoline

1 Answer

I have a 1986 Ford E350 460 V8 ambulance. The transmission is giving me problems. It's a automatic tranmission. I can start off in drive, but when I increase speed it seems to stay in first gear and not shifting. I can manually shift to second gear but it will not go into any higher gears. If I change my filter will this correct the problem?

Fitting an overdrive auto or a 5speed manual transmission will give a little more top end ......or..... fit larger tyres. V8 should have enough torque to cope well at lower speeds.
