My oil filter on my 2010 Gmc siarrakeep looseing up about a week after oil changes

make sure the filter is torqued to the correct tension when first fitted , coat the filter seal with engine oil , tighten by hand then a further 1/4 turn , when the engine is started oil pressure will slightly expand the filter housing further increasing the filter tightening torque ,it should never come loose. check the oil pump pressure to make sure every thing is up to scratch.

How to change the gasket on the oil filter adapter

Easy fix I just did. (replacing the oil filter adapter gasket which is a common leak). Remove the air cleaner tube and housing. Release the tension on the belt. Remove the two front bolts on the air compressor. They are nuts but the stud will come out too which is fine. Under the car loosen the third air compressor bolt. This will give you enough room to loosen the hidden bolt on the oil filter adapter. It only needs to be loosened as the adapter is slotted there. Remove the other two bolts on the oil filter adapter and remove. Replace the gasket and install.

While driving oil started shooting out were the oil filter meets the housing. and i notice it was loose. i bought a new filter and made sure the old gasket was not there and that the threads were fine. i...

may need to change the oil pump. although i would try tightening it on with a filter wrench to make sure the threads arent stretched. If it still leaks, th threads have stretched or something towards the top of the pump and allows the filter to come loose.

Loosing oil after oil change

Check your oil drain plug on the bottom of your oil pan (may be loose or stripped) and check the oil filter connection (may be loose or gasket is pushed to one side).
