Hello! I'll need the engine size...Yes, electrolysis is the problem...Lets solve it...You will need a digital multimeter...Send a comment and tell me if you have access to one...

Start and bring engine to operating temperature...Hold on 2000 RPM...Heat on full...Fan on high...Place the + probe of meter (set to read .5 volts) into the coolant tank...Place the - probe on the negative battery post...Record reading...If reading exceeds .4 volts...The problem is electrolysis...And we'll take steps to fix it...Guru..........Saailer

Runs cool for about 15 miles then it gets hot(220) so i turn it off to let it cool about a half gallon of water is gone

220 to 230 deg. F is actually normal for the 1998 Cadillac Deville. If it goes to 250 deg. F or even 260 deg. F it goes into a limp mode where fresh air is pumped into 1/2 of the cylinders to preserve the engine up to 40 mi. of travel (in the case that a radiator fan isn't working or coolant has completely leaked out of the system).

If a half gallon of water is gone in the system and you keep losing it, there is a leak in the system say in the water pump o-ring or the radiator, or a hose.

Leaks and overheats really fast

hi it sounds like your headgaskets blown you need to take your rad cap off fill with water start the engine see if you see any bubbles in the water or if the water blows straight out its a good indication the headgaskets gone the thing on the right hand side is the expansion tank overflow if this blows water out even when cold the headgaskets gone if you see no bubbles in the water change your thermostat the two fans on the rad have nothing to do with your a/c if that doesn,t work may need pressurising yates210456

How many gallons per hour does this car lose?

hey
at the begging u should clarify how many gallon u used.
112 miles at 28 miles per gallon --> 4 gallons burned (112/28)
So that means we leaked 11 - 4 = 7 gallons

Now figure out how long the car was driving.
112 miles at 64 miles per hour --> 1.75 hours

So, leak was at a rate of 7 gallons in 1.75 hours
7/1.75 = 4 gallons per hour leaked.

2003 F-350 6.0 TDI, Front Main Seal, Head Gaskets, and Valve Cover Gaskets

ok make sure to check or replace the unexpensive pcv valve
if that one is cloged it will coause all kind of leaks even whit new seals

and on the head gaskets problem i will recomend to get your radiator serviced or replaced because 90% of the mechanics check your radiator for cloged lines but they always do it at the top and by gravity all the garbache acumulate on the bottom, if you don't beleive it ask your mechanic hos does he inspect your radiator
