The usual cause is that the lighter is shorted, replace the fixture and the problem will go away.

SOURCE: 2006 jeep liberty cigarette lighter problem

its probably not the lighter itself, it's probably lost power. check the fuse for the cig lighter and see if blown. if it is, replace. if it blows immediately you have a dead short. if not, pay attention to when it stops working. could be a problem with whatever you are plugging in, or something else on the circuit

SOURCE: 2006 Jeep Wrangler cigarette lighter not working

Check for un-isulated connection on the hot wire lead. It might have been after-market but on mine the connection would short out, blowing a fuse. 1 inch of heat shrink tube fixed the problem.

Fuse number 31.Just see for 20 amp fuse in the fuse box.-----
on the far left of the instrument panel.
You have to open the drivers door to see it.
On the very end of the instrument panel is a small plastic cover. You must pull at the bottom and the cover will pop off.

Should be labeled CIGAR, but if not just check them all. Using a test lamp makes this easy.

Where is the fuse for the front cigarette lighter?

You can find the fuse box on the drivers end of the dash under a cover(called Junction Block) . Remove the plastic cover, and look on the back for the diagram to see which fuse to replace. Fuse 31 of 20 Amp is the cigarette lighter fuse.

My cigarette lighter/power source isn't working

Check the fuse first,on the fuse block! This circuit is protected with a fuse! Some times the cigar lighter will blow the fuse by shorting out the circuit! You may need to replace the lighter!
