Question about Honda Civic

1 Answer

I have a 97 honda civic hatchback dx with a blown engine (dropped a connecting rod) and unfortunately I cannot afford to purchase another d16y7 engine for it. So I am buying a used d16z6 (vtec)out of a 95 civic, I know I need part of the wires from the vtec solenoid and the ecu from the 95 and that I will have to wire the vtec into my existing wiring harness. Also I will have all the solenoids/switches/sensor connectors from the 95 wiring harness (in case I have to change any in my existing wiring harness). My question is, Is there anything else I have to take into consideration or change?

Go to your local library and ask the Librarian to get you on-line to the Automotive Repair Reference Center, and then to the EBSCO database...you will find all of your wiring diagrams there.

Will a1996 honda civic front door fit 2000 honda civic dx

The body style was the same from 1996 to 2000 for the Honda Civic. Are both of the Civics similar in body style as in they have the same number of doors? Not sure if a wagon or hatchback would interchange with a regular 2 door coupe.

Just wonderng about the cat convertor for my 98 honda civic b/c the diagram at autozone looks like it is located in a different place that where i think it is

On the 1998 Honda Civic with the D16Y5 and D16Y7 engines, the Catalytic Converter is part of the Exhaust Manifold. If you have the D16Y8 engine, the Catalytic Converter is separate from the Exhaust Manifold, and is directly between the 1st and 2nd Oxygen Sensors.

Here is a diagram of the D16Y5 and D16Y7 Exhaust Manifold and Catalytic Converter: http://www.4shared.com/document/zvR9UsXJ/1998_Honda_Civic_D16Y5_D16Y7_C.html

Torque para cabeza honda civic motor 1.6

1996-97 Civic and Civic del Sol
1.6L (D16Y5, D16Y7 and D16Y8) ENGINES

Tighten the cylinder head bolts to their final torque specification in four steps. Use a crisscross sequence starting with the bolts at the middle of the head and working toward the outer bolts as follows:
  1. Step 1: Tighten each bolt to 14 ft. lbs. (20 Nm).
  2. Step 2: Tighten each bolt to 36 ft. lbs. (49 Nm).
  3. Step 3: Tighten each bolt to 49 ft. lbs. (67 Nm).
  4. Step 4: Retighten only the two center bolts to 49 ft. lbs. (67 Nm).

Hope helps (remember to rate and comment this).
