Anon, disconnect vacuum lines,wires, etc. and unbolt EGR from intake shown in 4th video link. Check the attached links,instruction and guides, Good luck

Where is the vent solenoid in 2000 corvette


possibly next to the evaporator canister they are usually there on most cars you should see a little round canister with a plug for electric and rubber hose 's on it like a tee fitting the evaporator canister is a black charcoal containing box with hose's also coming in & out of it the vent solenoid is about the size of a aspirin bottle and the evaporator canister is about the size of a nestle quick container and it should be black or grey

P0446 has nothing to do with the canistor !
DTC P0446 Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Vent System Performance
This DTC tests the evaporative emission (EVAP) system for a restricted or blocked EVAP vent path. The control module commands the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve Open and the EVAP canister vent solenoid valve Closed. This allows vacuum to be applied to the EVAP system. Once a calibrated vacuum level has been reached, the control module commands the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve Closed and the EVAP canister vent solenoid valve Open. The control module monitors the fuel tank pressure (FTP) sensor for a decrease in vacuum. If the vacuum does not decrease to near 0 inches H2O in a calibrated time, this DTC sets.

P0446, This is a EVAP code,check the gas cap is the seal torn?Do you tighten the gas cap properly,If there is a circuit problem this will reside in the CCV (canister closed valve),VSV (pressure switching valve),or a disconnected hose at the charcoal canister,if anything just replace the gas cap first,clear the code and go from there

Trying to put a new vapor canister in 95 grand Marquis.I got two lines running from engine to plug into canister but my connection has two plugs for my lines but on canister still a open hole nothing to...


Section 03-13: Evaporative Emissions 1995 Town Car, Crown Victoria, Grand Marquis Workshop Manual DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION Evaporative Emission Canister Fuel vapor emitted through the evaporative emission valve (9B593) is stored in two evaporative emissions canisters (EVAP canister) (9D653) . I think you should have 2 engine vacuum lines, one for each canister.

  1. Visually inspect the exterior of the canister for damage, and replace as necessary.
  2. Label and disconnect all vacuum and vapor lines.
  3. Inspect the lines for damage, and replace as necessary.
  4. Inspect the canister for damage, and replace as necessary.
  5. Pinch the fresh air vent hose.
  6. Blow air in Port A and check that it flows freely out of Port E .
  7. If air does not flow as specified, the canister may be defective.

Code says evaporator purge solenoid


Which code specifically? Do not assume you need a new solenoid. Our recommendation will depend on the specific code and some troubleshooting results. I usually recommend checking over all the EVAP vacuum lines and the gas cap too whenever there is a purge valve code. Check the vacuum lines at the cannister in the left rear bumper. I will paste info on the purge solenoid below.

Evaporative Emission Purge Solenoid

Description & Operation
The duty cycle EVAP canister purge solenoid (DCP) regulates the rate of vapor flow from the EVAP canister to the intake manifold. The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) operates the solenoid.
During the cold start warm-up period and the hot start time delay, the PCM does not energize the solenoid. When de-energized, no vapors are purged. The PCM de-energizes the solenoid during open loop operation.
The engine enters closed loop operation after it reaches a specified temperature and the time delay ends. During closed loop operation, the PCM cycles (energizes and de-energizes) the solenoid 5 or 10 times per second, depending upon operating conditions. The PCM varies the vapor flow rate by changing solenoid pulse width. Pulse width is the amount of time that the solenoid is energized. The PCM adjusts solenoid pulse width based on engine operating condition.
Removal & Installation
The duty cycle evaporative (EVAP) canister purge solenoid is located in the engine compartment near the brake master cylinder.

  1. Disconnect electrical connector at solenoid.
  2. Disconnect vacuum lines at solenoid.
  3. Lift solenoid slot from mounting bracket for Removal & Installation.

To Install:
  1. Position solenoid slot to mounting bracket.
  2. Connect vacuum lines to solenoid. Be sure vacuum lines are firmly connected and not leaking or damaged. If leaking, a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) may be set with certain emission packages.
  3. Connect electrical connector to solenoid.

Code po442 po456 po455 where is evap canister


The canister is located under the drivers side, just behind the rear motor mount.
Be sure to check the evap motor located just in front of the canister. Using the handle of a screwdriver tap on the mounting bracket for the Evaporator Motor to see if the motor runs when tapped. This is a good indication that you have a bad connection on the motor. Simple push the red clip on the harness towards the drivers side and then squeeze the plug to remove and clean you connection. I really suggest cleaning these connection before replacing the Canister or the Evaporator canister.
