Question about 2001 Volkswagen Jetta TDI

1 Answer

I have a 2004 2.0 Manual 2004 Jetta. It recently started giving me problems. I live in a desert, so I assumed it was because of the heat. It seems it stalls out on me during the day after driving the car around awhile, until recently I took someone to the airport in the evening after letting the car sit all day, it stalled out on me, again. So maybe it is not the heat. Whatever the case may be, this is frustrating and I have had a mechanic working on it, which is not free. I need to know why my vehicle keeps stalling out on me. It stalls out when I go after sitting at a stop light, it will stall out when I push the gas pedal or refuse to go, causing traffic to stop behind me. In a hot town like this, there is a lot of road rage. This problem scares me, and I can't just get a new car. I need answers. I have fixed the fuel filter, a few sensors, one of which was 225 bux! We have given it a tune-up. The fuel pump was tested, and they said it was still good.

When the fuel pump was checked did they check the gauze input filter that is part of the fuel pump inside the fuel tank ?
It could be that you have picked up a batch of dirty fuel that has clogged the this filter and that is causing fuel starvation making the engine cut out.

I give the same answer to everyone with these symptoms. Have your battery checked for specific gravity and load test. When weather starts to get cold this is a common problem. GOOD LUCK FRIEND.

My heat in my 2004 VW Jetta stopped working and then the temperature guage started going high, do you know what that would be from

It seems as though you may have a leak somewhere. Fill your resevoir(cold) with clean water and replace the cap. Get inside the car and start the car and turn your heat to high and allow to warm up. Once the system has warmed and your engine is at running temperature, check your resevoir level and top off as necessary. If this does pose a solution, check for coolant leaks and repair.

the glow plugs probably need replacing, it seems they are not heating up the gas enough.

I had the same problem when I first got it.  I realized that the problem was the CD I was putting in.  The CD player will NOT read burned RW CDs.  I hope that helps!  But it will read burned R CDs and ones from the store.
