Ambient light sensor circuit low. just the stupid light sensor on the dash board malfunctioning. make sure there is nothing over it and that it is clean. the only problem you might notice is the lights coming on during the day or not coming on automatically during the night. clean the sensor lens and clear the codes. maybe it wont come back. if it does replace sensor.

I have a 1996 dodge intrepid with a diagnostic code 1255. Could someone please tell me what that code means?

If you had two blinking CEL codes, a 12 (pause) and a 55, the code 12 means the battery has been disconnected within the previous 50 starts. The code 55 indicates the end of stored codes. Therefore, you have no saved trouble codes (disconnecting the battery deletes saved trouble codes).

What is DTC mean

Diagnostic Trouble Code- the codes the computer stores in memory when it senses a malfunction or aberration of sensor information. there are hundreds of possible trouble codes.

I hope that's the DTC you meant. Manufacturers use all kinds of such 3 or 4 letter symbols to denote a system. Last best chance is to "google it".

Emission light on in laguna car

If you mean the Check Engine or Service Engine Soon light, there is a Diagnostic Test Code(s) (DTC error code(s)) stored in your onboard diagnostic computer. An OBD II code scanner can read the code(s), and an auto parts store counterperson can tell you what the code(s) means. In fact, at larger parts stores, the counterperson will have a code scanner available for use at their store free of charge...and they might even connect it and read the code for you (they are in the business of selling parts, ya know?). Then you will have to decide whether or not you want to try the repair yourself. Good luck.

What part do i need to repalce

Hi Cornejo:
The DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) P0700 code is not the actual code that is of concern. The P0700 code is stored in the engine computer.

This code means that there is a code stored in the Transmission computer. The trans computer sends a message to the engine computer that there is a trans code stored. This lets the engine computer turn on the "check engine" light.

You need to have the transmission computer scaned for codes to find out whats going on. Most code readers do not read trans codes, you need to have a scan tool that is able to do this.
This could mean almost any thing. Most trans codes are eletrical related with the allison transmission.
Here is the diagnosis chart for the P0700. Again, this code only means a trans code is set in the TCM, not a actual failure code.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DTC P0700
Circuit Description
This diagnostic trouble code (DTC) indicates that a related transmission DTC set in the transmission control module (TCM). The engine control module (ECM) receives the TCM DTC information over the serial data circuit. The ECM turns ON the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) when the TCM sends a message over the serial data circuit requesting MIL illumination.

2_15_2012_1_58_02_pm.gif

Conditions for Clearing the DTC graphic
The control modul turns OFF the MIL after 3 consecutive ignition cycles that the diagnostic runs and does not fail.
A current DTC, Last Test Failed, clears when the diagnostic runs and passes.
A scan tool can clear the code from TCM history. The TCM automatically clears the DTC from TCM history if the vehicle completes 40 warm-up cycles without failure.

1. Verify power and ground supplies to the TCM when the vehicle is cold.

2. If OK, depending on ambient temperature. If ambient temperature is high and the problem will not show, remove the TCM and place it in a freezer for a couple of hours.
3. If the ambient temperature is low remove the TCM to a warm area for a couple of hours.
4. After sufficiently cold or warm, install the TCM and drive the vehicle immediately.
5. If the ambient temperature is low and the transmission now shifts or the ambient temperature is high and the transmission will not shift replace the TCM.

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

I got diagnostic trouble codes P0108,P0121,P0340 what does it means and give me the remedial action for that

Here is what each of your trouble codes means:

DTC P0108 MAP Sensor Range check High
DTC P0121 TPS Circuit Range/Performance Problem
DTC P0340 Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit Malfunction
Do you know how long each of these codes have been stored? Each one of these codes relate to a different part of the vehicle.

Your PO108 codes is probably a faulty Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor
PO121 is a Throttle Position Sensor malfunction code
PO340 is a Camshaft Position Sensor malfunction code

I would not think that all 3 of these codes all set at the same time, just wouldnt make sense unless there was a problem with the Engine Control Module (ECM) causing all these codes to set at the same time.

Is there a way to check a trouble code light manually without diagnostic tools by using key posistions or holding trip and odometer buttons?

No, you will need an OBDII code reader. The good news is that most Auto Zone stores will check your codes and tell the what they are for free. Don't listen to their advice though: their job is to sell you parts - not diagnose what's wrong with your car. Keep that in mind.

DTC shows up on computer at auto zone as a bad code and i dont know what DTC means so i cant fix it if i dont know what it means so my question to you is what in the world does DTC mean ? Im working on a...

DTC stands for Diagnostic Trouble Code. My question is why did you have the vehicle checked out in the first place? Is the check engine light on? What was the code number and did it start with P0 or P1. If you don't remember then have the code(s) cleared and operate the vehicle until the code(s) reappear. The code or codes can help you to determine where to start looking.

Engine light stays on.

get an obd2 scanner at an auto parts store (sometimes they'll let you barrow one for free) and download the diagnostic trouble codes(DTC's) then use an obd2 chart to see what the codes mean. That will tell you everything you need to know. Im positive the guy at the auto parts store will help you if you need it
