One of the bolts that you removed from your timing cover is the bolt that holds your tensioner. My guess is that when you removed the bolt you lost timing chain adustment. Sorry to tell you the bad news but the cover has to come back off. Hopfully that motor is not a interference motor because if it is you have bent valves. Good luck.

There is no drain plug. You have to take cover off to drain. After it has drained, clean cover surface and housing surface, if gasget is ok not mared or broken you can reuse it with a thin layer of silacone, if its tore up to bad clean old gasget off real good and you can either get a new gasget or use silacone, and put it back on and refill it thru filler plug, and fill until it comes out filler hole, if you use silacone make sure you use enought, like a quarter to a half inch wide bead and let it set a while before you put the rearend grease back in maybe a half hour or so. That way it has enought time to set up.

a few things come to mind from reading your problem, first your right about the air, it could still have some in it, i know from experance they can be a bear to get all out. secound if your sure you got all air out, the only other thing it could be is a blowen head gasget. third if you suspect head gasget do a coolent system pressure test, and watch for leak down.

2000 Chevrolet S-10 2.2L 4 cyl. valve cover gasget leaking.

The factory manual is the only one worth buying, you can also join they have factory manuals. As far as the job goes you must remove whatever is in the way, some cars there is little or nothing, but like yours many components must be removed, I would have the written manual in hand before starting the job to avoid costly down time, all you need is the gasket and a good can of spray cleaner, a few razor blades would help, as the old gasket will be as hard as rock.

hi, remove spark plugs and check to see if the part of the plug that is ceramic is wet with oil as probes suffer cam cover gasket oil leakage into plug holes,This will cause rough running especially at low speed. If any plugs are oily then you need to change cam cover gasget or gasgets if its a 24v.
Not a bad job to do,Hope this is helpful,All the best. Phil

Wont start

most vacuum leaks are in hoses that are disconnected or have holes in them you can also take a bottle of water and spray it along the side of the intake and base of the carborater if the motor bogs or you here it **** the water in you have found you leak but it can be a leak under the intake and that is a bigger problem to find

Wont start

Check the backside bottom of the carb. there's a vacuum port there. Make sure it's plugged up. How's you timing? Also try rotating distributor back and forth. It may be a timing issue. Not enough or too much.
