The check engine light comes ON when the cars computer(the ECU) notices any kind of electrical problem in car.In some cases the check engine light comes on then turns off.In that case the exact error is not getting confirmed so this happens. But once the problem gets confirmed the engine light will remain permanently ON till the problem gets solved. In this case i suggest you to get your car scanned at autozone service center. Its absolutely free.In case in the car scanning,if any error code is retrieved then you can check which part is faulty as per the error code.In case if no error code is retrieved then you can continue driving, till you get any confirmed indication. ---------- This will help.Thanks.Helpmech.

Engine light is on then a wrench light comes on for awhile. When this happens the car slows down to a crawl.2012 ford tauras

The wrench symbol light is a warning light for the electronic throttle control system . Drive by wire ! The system uses electrical inputs from gas pedal sensors to the engine computer ,then by the voltage signal inputs the PCM - engine computer controls a electric motor to open throttle blade . This allows more air to enter the engine , the PCM can see that increase in air volume by the inputs from the mass air flow sensor . The PCM will add more fuel so you can go faster . Cool ! When the light comes on and the vehicle slows down , it's gone into limp mode . The PCM saw a voltage input it didn't like . There are two position senors in the gas pedal assembly and there are two throttle position sensors in the throttle body on the engine . Drive by Wire training Check out a few of these training videos ! GM ,Ford , Toyota , doesn't matter all work the same .

95 suburban starts spurttering when it warms up

Check your exhaust, see how much pressure you can feel coming out of your tailpipe. Sounds like a blocked catalytic convertor . Other issue would be the throttle position sensor. If you have check engine light in pull the codes

My 2003 chevy truck goes into limp mode and pulls code PO220.Where is the tps sensor located?

Symptoms - Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)
- No throttle response Possible Causes - Harness or connector (The TP sensor circuit is open or shorted.)
- Electric Throttle Control Actuator (or Throttle Body Motor)
- Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor (APP) P0220 Description Electric Throttle Control Actuator consists of throttle control motor, throttle position (TP)sensor, etc. The throttle position sensor responds to the throttle valve movement.
The throttle position sensor has the two sensors. These sensors are a kind of potentiometers which transform the throttle valve position into output voltage, and emit the voltage signal to the ECM. In addition, these sensors detect the opening and closing speed of the throttle valve and feed the voltage signals to the ECM. The ECM judges the current opening angle of the throttle valve from these signals and the ECM controls the throttle control motor to make the throttle valve opening angle properly in response to driving condition.
When is the code detected? An unexpected voltage from the TP sensor is sent to ECM.

How do you replace the TPS

Throttle Position Sensor Replacement
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the generator.
  3. Disconnect the throttle position (TP) sensor electrical connector.
  4. Remove the TP sensor attaching screws
  5. Remove the TP sensor
  6. Remove the TP sensor O-ring seal
Installation Procedure

  1. Install the TP sensor O-ring seal (7) on the TP sensor (6).
  2. Install the TP sensor on the throttle body with the throttle valve in the closed position. Make sure the TP sensor lever lines up with the TP sensor drive lever on the throttle shaft.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
  4. Install the TP sensor attaching screws (5).
  5. Tighten
Tighten the screws to 2 N·m (18 lb in).
  6. Connect the TP sensor electrical connector.
  7. Install the generator.
  8. Connect the negative battery cable.

Xg300 failing ran diagnostics and ...

I'm a Platinum Certified Hyundai Technician. Low RPM and Limp Home are always accompanied by each other. Throttle body cleaning FIRST - see what that does. ETS motor not probable, crank position sensor (maybe, because engine stops).. if crank position sensor, there's usually a diagnistic trouble code which identifies it. Clean the throttle body first... then see what happens.

2004 Honda Civic -Code P0122 Throttle Position Sensor Voltage Low

yes, this is the case of a failed throttle body, in which case it needs replaced, the car is getting too much fuel causing the high idle. this needs replaced asap. you could proably find a small independant honda shop that could do the work for less.

My suburban is a 95 5.7 liter. When I put it in drive and stars to roll it tends to hesitate like it loosess power it does not respond when I hit the gas padle it takes a few seconds to respond so when...

you might want to check your throttle position sensor or or it could be a a fuel pressure sensor on the injector rail. however if your check engine light is on...your O2 sensor might be bad. this is just a first step. chances are you will find that most fuel related problems are due to a clogged fuel filter or a weak fuel pump, but i would start with a sensor diagnostic first since the engine seems to have no problems starting.
