Question about 2002 Ford Expedition
I will try to help you. Most of the time when you get a different vehicle, it has had an oil change, new air filter, and the tires are airred up. If the brakes were just done, some of the parts were new and all the calipers were freshly serviced.
Now that you have driven the vehicle, the tires may have lost a little air, the oils dirty and so is the airfilter. Any additive the Dealer or former owner put in is wearing out. Check your tires, do the oil change and filter, then check the wheels for dragging brakes. Jack a wheel up and spin the tire to see if it drags.
Next, go to Autozone or Oreillys for a free scan of your on-board computer. Sometimes the "Check Engine" light does not have to be on to have a problem. O2 sensors can make a big difference in mileage. Buy at least a Midgrade fuel. I believe your gas flap has a minimum fuel rating on it. My Aviator was a 91.
On the fuel, when gas was a dollar the fuel was 8 to 10 cents a grade more. Now with gas closing in on $3, the next grade is still 10 cents a gallon. With the Trip computers, I could prove my 1994 model on up; had better mileage with better fuel.
Try to remember if your commute took longer due to Traffic. Were there construction zones? You may have driven 100 miles each time, but the conditions may have been less favorable. Remember to get the scan I recommended and do your maintenance. Good luck with this, would be interested to know the outcome.
