When the belt is off be careful when turning the engine to align. This is an interference motor and damage can occour if a piston jams on a valve.
1.3L : The crankshaft sprocket has a dot stamped into it. It needs to be at the top. On the cover behind the sprocket you will see an arrow. Align the dot with the arrow. Each of the cam shaft sprockets also have dots stamped into them on one of the spokes. These dots need to be at the top also and aligned with the marks on the cylinder head cover.
2.0L : The crankshaft sprocket mark should be at the bottom and aligned with the notch in the timing belt cover. The camshaft sprockets have a line on the outer edge of the sprocket. This should be at the top and aligned with the notches on the cylinder head cover

Before removing any of the chains or sprockets line up the crank sprocket as per figure 1. To remove the secondary chain undo the cmashaft sprocket bolts and remove the sprocket. Do not move the sprockets after chain removal more than 20 degrees either way. (See my original post)
To remove the primary chain remove the idler sprocket.
    Refer to diagram 1.
Line up Lower crankcase mark(A) and crank sprocket mark(B). (Crank sprocket guide pin at the top.) Line up chain yellow link(C) with crank sprocket mark(B). Turn idler sprocket timing mark(E) to line up with blue link(F) on chain keeping tension on the front part(where there is no guide) of the chain before fitting the chain to the sprocket. Remove idler sprocket without turning it. Fit to chain and refit to engine. Recheck that blue and yellow links line up to their marks and also that the crank timing marks line up.
    Refer to diagram 2.
Fit the cam sprockets and align sprocket marks (B) to head marks (A). Do not bolt on. Fit secondary chain to idler sprocket (line up chain yellow link - E, with idler sprocket arrow - F) and check that cam sprocket arrows(C) will line up with blue chain links(D). Remove both the cam sprockets and then one at a time fit to chain and then camshaft. Recheck all the timing marks. Rotate the crankshaft 2 full turns and make sure that it does not lock up anywhere.

If there are no marks on the cam sprocket or marks on the chain line up the locating pins on the camshaft with the marks on the head.
As for the crankshaft the locating pin should be on the opposite side of the mark on the lower crankcase and the number 1 piston on TDC.

Suzuki K6a engine. Turns over but won't start

we dont have this engine in USA< (this forum is USA forum.....)
what year, what car? ?? what country?
the k6a fits many cars, and many years and can be carb or EFI fueled.

the K6a line up, do tell what you are driving....please.
now to answer in GENERIC Mr. Otto Cycle mode. (gas engines)
no spark, check spark.
never tuned up, ever.
low compression, find timing chain slipped or worse.
twin cam 3 cylinder.
with chain drive. if chain is/was quiet, the cam timing should be good. as is compression over 150psi.
if compression is good, and spark good, x3
then it will run on test fuel, does it?
of not clogged melted CAT?

Crankshaft Position - Camshaft Position Correlation Bank 1 Sensor "B"

loose chain? or the can be a dead (jammed) tensioner.
if crazy loose it can skip a sproket tooth, do you ignore chain noise?

Tring to find out if the kia sportage 2001 4wd 4 door has a timing belt or chain or how do u find out which it is

You can always tell if a car has a timing belt or chain by looking at the timing belt/chain cover. Metal cover means chain, plastic cover means belt, there are a few exceptions but in general this holds true, your Sportage has a belt by the way. :)
