Well, yes, but you need to have the same port locations, meaning some of the taps do down to the throttle plates, and others go slightly above the idle position of the throttle plates, essentially becoming effective in an "off idle" throttle position....

Off idle ports service distributer, often charcoal fuel canister bleed off, etc.

So, sometimes you have to squirt a shot of carb cleaner (engine off) and observe where in the venturi area the port is drilled to.

Plug the rest, or you have lean conditions on some cylinders, with the leak.

Does it happen if you unplug the EGR ? It could be a vac leak or a problem with the cruise circuit in the carb, even tho it has been rebuilt. You may need to hook up a vac gauge to watch the engine vac.

1987 Dodge Omni 2.2 Engine Carborated. Starts great, runs 3 to 5 minutes and then starts to smoke, load up on gas and shut off. Wait an hour and same thing all over again. All tuned up. Any Ideas?

Has the carb been puled off for a rebuild? If not sounds as though the floats may be out of adjustment or malfunctioning. Also a good kit will help it run better. You'll need the numbers on the carburetor to get the kit. There is either a tag or embossed area on where you can find these numbers. Dodge/Chrysler used Carter branded carbs in the past yours may still be one.

Looking for carter thermo quad linkage diagrams

You can get them in a carb kit for the carb, also Chilton's or Motor books. You may be able to find one at Haynes or Pederson. They print books on carbs as well. If you have a dealer service manual it will have these diagrams too. You can get that at faxonautoliterature.Hope this helps.

1987 dodge ramcharger is leaking fuel from carburetor, is there a kit to fix the carburetor?

Yes, check at local auto parts store, but they may have to order it, seeing how everything is pretty well fuel injected now. Look for a tag attached, or at least some numbers, make of carb, such as holley or carter, 2 barrel or 4 barrel etc that they can use for reference.

New rebilt carter yfa installed, but idle at 3k all adjustment screws backed out, ? the 2.5 L 4 cylinder came from P O with a jury rigged rochester carb of 77 ford vintage, hard to start so I got the...

The 2.5 L engine is the Pontiac Iron Duke sourced from GM since it was still AMC. They came with Rochester carbs, while Ford used Holley 2 brls on their 4 cyl engines and Chrysler used Carter carbs. You might have the wrong carb and the throttle plates are sticking on the intake manifold. You can try using a carb adapter/spacer. If you drive off road I would suggest buying a TBI throttle body injection system from a junkyard, and pick up a electirc fuel pump. Either new from a speed shop or used from a newer Jeep with a 2.5 L TBI engine, you'll need the computer, harness, relay, sending unit and lines as well. But you can pick up everything at a pick your part yard for cheap (some yards have all you can carry in your hands for $50 days).

Dont know how to hook up carb

Hello, the best advice I can give for this is to mark your old vacuum lines off the careburator and match them with your new one. A good Chiltons or Haynes Auto Manual can help you in this endeavor as well. Being a mechanic doing upgrades to your vehicle does not always have the manual for the conversion in which you are doing so some good ole guess and tell may be the route to take. Just remember that you need vaccum to take and take out air into the careburator and this is a good start from any careburator upgrade. I have rebuilt and installed probaly 50 careburators and a manual for converting one careburator from one vehicle or motor can take longer than some just good time with your motor figuring out what needs to get done. Thank You
