You idint list the year, make or model carnbut i would try to check for two things, first is to check for an injector that leaks and dumps fuel into cylinder when engine is off then when you start it, it runs fough until it clear out, or the fuel preasure regulator leaking it will do samething as the injector leaking, remove the vacuum hose from regulator and see if its wet with fuel or if fuel leaks out, start with these tests, the last thing would be a fuel preasure test on the pump. if the fuelpump drains down when sitting it will run rough and skip until enough preasure build up,this can be done with a fuel preasure gauge, watch preasure gauge when engine is shut off , see if it drops slowly but note that if it does it can also mean the other parts i listed are bad too.so check one by one to find if one is bad. good luck and hope this helps you.,

Cold choke baffle has 3/16 opening minute I pump accelerator choke thermostat closes primary baffle shut no air to start I force choke open to start why insufficient air to run at high idle?

Your engine probably has an automatic choke device that adjusts automatically with engine temperature. To set the choke when the engine is cold you have to depress the accelerator to the floor and release it completely. You shouldn't have to depress the accelerator again to start the engine, turn the key the engine should start. As the engine begins to warm up it will also begin to initially run faster then it will start to run rough. At this point you have to press the accelerator and release it again. The auto choke mechanism should allow the choke butterfly to open. There may be a number of stops in the system and the choke butterfly will stop again still not fully open and only become fully open when the engine is at operating temperature. Hope this answers you question, Rgs. Bob

Rough idle

Sounds like a automatic choke sticking....Take the air duct loose from carb..While accelerating engine spray bottle throttle spray in.....as the car tries to die...stop spraying...Repeat 3 or 4 times.....It will clean your injectors. Runs alot better...Remember....bottle throttle spray...not carborator spray

My 91 oldsmobile 98 runs rough in idle but when driving run smooth.

Rough idle is a very common problem on 4 cylinders, but I believe the 98 Regency has a 6 cylinder in it, right?

Sometimes the coil packs get iffy, and sometimes the EGR Valve gets a leak in it causing a rough idle.

When the accelerator pedal is depressed, it can change things so that the engine seems to run smoothly.

However, I would look for codes to see if anything intermittent is occurring in the engine that may need attention.

The OBD-I scanner can help to diagnose the problem, if anything is out of specifications on the engine in question.

The owner will have to find a technician that has such a scanner.

I have 2002 audit quattro TT with 180k miles. When I do a normal acceleration the car surges and rpm drop but pick back up. If I accel hard it runs fine. Also at idle at times it varies 200 rpm like a

this sounds similar to a problem i had. as the rpm went over 2000 the engine would stop for a split second and then kick back in.
after a few days looking my garage finally found the problem was a faulty air mass meter.
this cost me £200 in total to be repaired.

V6 engine idles rough after restarting, then smooths out

My first guess would be a dirty carb/fuel injector set. Run some fuel cleaner through the tank and see if it gets better. You might have to do it through a couple of tanksful. How long since you've had a tune-up? It might just be that time.
