2003 Volkswagen Passat Logo

I have a 2003 Passat with 109k miles on it, automatic tiptronic with 4 motion transmission. I noticed the other day all of a sudden it started hesitating when shifting from 2-3 and 3-4, and it occasionally 'jumps' a bit when at idle in drive. Is the transmission doomed to be replaced (which exceeds the value of the car's worth at this point), or have others experienced this with a more reasonable fix? I literally just need this car to get me through 77 more days...

Did you ever find an answer to this problem? I am interested because I also have a 2003 V6 4-Motion Passat and am having similar issues. I only have 86,000 miles on it, but I'm sure if I have to end up replacing the transmission it would not be worth it. I'd be interested to hear what ended up happening with yours. Thank you!

Question 1. My 2003 Honda accord vibrates especially when the AC is on and its on drive or neutral gear, but it does not vibrate/shake when its in motion.

Hello,
It sounds as if your Automatic Transmission is having issues. The first thing to do is check the Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF). This is covered in the Owner's Manual (should be in your glovebox??).

If the level is low, it will cause issues. Your ATF should be serviced every 30,000 miles.

Air conditioner suddenly stopped working on my 2003 passat wagon glx 4 motion

Possibly. Check for the proper amount of freon in the system. There are pressure sensing switches that stop the compressor as a safety measure.

Hi, I parked my 2003 VW Passat, did grocery shopping, came back out and car won't start. Digital dashboard display says car is in "D" (Drive), but driving stick - it's automatic/tiptronic - is...

Sounds like the shift cable is damaged or loose. The cable connects to the shifter under the center console, and runs down to the left side of the transmission. It connects to the transmission near the left transmission mount. It is possible that the cable popped off of the shift lever on the transmission, or there is a clip that holds the cable to the trans that can come off.
You need to have somebody somewhat competent in car repairs take a look at it. There's very little chance there is anything wrong with the transmission itself. It shouldn't cost too much to fix.

Have a 2003 volkswagen passat 130 4 motion, when starting the engine there is white/ greyish smoke coming out of the exhaust, does not seem to be the head gasket as no signs of this e.g oil and water are...

blue is oil
White is coolant/water It will also smell kind of sweet
black is fuel

If you don't drive your car very many miles or let it sit for days/weeks at a time it is most likely condensation in the exhaust. Take her on a nice 50 mile brisk drive and see if the problem clears up. If it does think condensation if not you will need to dig further.

My 2002 passat 1.8 litre tiptronic automatic shift indicator is not moving? Would that be a switching problem on the shifter, transmission or lights?

Sounds like the whole shifting unit. It has a printed circuit strip unit that usually goes bad or a switch on the side of the transmission. What code is showing? You need to have it scanned at your VW dealership to correctly diagnose your exact problem
