ENGINE SERVICE LIGHT TURN ON GRAND VITARA 2003

The information below was complied by me, it explains what causes the check engine light to come on and the process of finding the cause.

When the Check Engine light (or Service Engine Soon) is turned on, the systems computer control unit (called the PCM) has sensed a fault in the electronic controls of the engine and/or the emission system. When this happens you will seldom feel the car engine run any different. There are about 200 possible faults that turn the Check Engine light on, to know what has developed a problem you must have the system tested, this is called an OBD2 fault code test, Kragen and Autozone parts stores (USA only) do this testing for free.

Changing manual transmission oil in 2003 grand vitara?

it has a drain plug and a filler plug but you should never need to change the oil ,but the oil to use is EP90 hypoid oil as gearbox has helical cut gears which need exteme pressure oil .a top up yes maybe but change the oil in a manual box is not something anyone does ,yes i know its in the 100.000 mile service check list but no one ever does it in a garage .because by this time the vehicle needs a new clutch and you have to drain the oil to do the clutch

I just got an oil change on my 2003 Suzuki Vitara in 24 hours later my service engine soon light came on anyone have an idea what the problem might be?

Check the oil level with the dip stick! It would not be the first time that too little oil was put in an engine during a oil change! Also, the oil drain plug or the oil filter could be loose or missing!
Check for oil on the ground under the car or oil dripping from the undercarriage.

Oil light stays on even after complete oil change

It sounds like your oil pump is going bad..Well bd now since you said the light stayed on...And the noise you hear is the sound of a engine not getting enough oil, to lube all those metal parts,,,,You can replace your oil pump, and hopefully you didnt do too much damage to the motor....Goodluck...

What to do with my 2003 Grand Vitara submerged in flood waters

Let the system dry for quite a few days before trying to start, otherwise the computer could get ruined. Most water damages the coil packs and crank shaft position sensor. Hopefully water did not go inside your intake manifold and engine. It may not start. The best thing to do is let it thouroughly dry. Have a diagnostic test done to see if any sensors or circuits got ruined.
