Well, it's not uncommon for a 5 year old car to have a bad alternator.

I looked at the recalls and there were none for the alternator for the 2005 Ford Escape.

It has more to do with miles traveled and quality and construction of the alternator, and general wear and tear issues, than whether it's a 2005 model year SUV that is relatively new, but still got a bad alternator over time.

Hopefully, you can get more than 4 or 5 years out of this alternator. Does your replacementalternator have a lifetime warranty on it?

I think it maybe my alternator any recalls

There are 2 recalls that have been issued on your model and year vehicle, none related to the alternator. Go to this site and review the recalled parts and make sure your vehicle has been repaired and is safe. Good luck!

Own a 2005 Escape, have replaced the alternator three times and replaced the battery 4 times. They are now recommending replacing the computer. Any others with this problem?

If the alternator is what is going out, look at the alternator wiring, the large wire goes to the battery,it is hot all the time,do not remove it,just add a wire as large,or larger to it,and runit to the positive battery post, this will keep the alternator from working so hard to charge.

What are the best bulbs to put into my 2002 ford escape xls

Which bulbs are you refering to?
Headlights? I went with Sylvania SilverStar H4 bulbs. I was really impressed with the brightness. The bad news... I seem to have to replace them more often; like, 1 or 2 per year.

Another alternative is to upgrade to the 2005-2006 headlamp assemblies. Rumor says they will fit. They use a different bulb.

Multiple Ignition coil failure w/ On-board computer failure

to beds_borders

That sounds very familiar. Our 2005 Ford Escape just had about the same problem to the tune of a $2800 repair. Computer failure caused two iginition coils to fail and had to drive over the Continenetal Divide on 4 cylinders. The vehicle is only 5 years old. Happened about 3 weeks ago. Ford said there is no recall. I have a big problem with that.. Where is the "quality" they are trying to sell?

How do you remove and replace the alternator on a 2005 ford escape 4 cylander

Loosen the belt by loosing a tensioner bolt on the alternator. Disconnect the battery and cables from the alternator. Replace with new alternator and hook up the power cables to it. Then reconnect the battery and you're done. Mike. Rate 100% please.
