My 2006 Chevy Equinox is giving me problems once again! The headlamp lights won't turn off when the car is on or off. It stays on with the battery and I've had to remove the battery. I took my Equinox to the dealership and they told me that the microchip for the headlamps had a virus and that the virus would spread through the fuse box infecting all of the other microchips connected. I feel like they're just full of ****. Please someone help! They say I need to replace the fuse box which is going to cost me $680 with the parts and labor!!!

Most of the time I find that both headlight bulbs are burned out. Remove the headlamp, open the hood and remove the retainers that hold the front grill/bumper cover to the upper radiator support. The gently pull out on the front bumper cover that goes over the headlamp to release the retainer and cover retainer with tape to avoid scratching the headlamp lens. remove the 3 bolts that hold the headlamp in place 2 at the top and one down at the bottom of the headlamp on the inboard side. Pull out on the outboard bottom part of the headlamp to release the retainer. Disconnect the headlamp bulb ck for power and ground at the headlight bulb connector. Use a test light and ck the red and white wire voltage and the d blue and pnk wires for ground. The high beam is the pink wire.So connect your test light from the pink wire to the red and white wire and turn on the high beam headlights your test light should light if it does then the bulb is burned out.
Take + terminal off the battery and leave it sit for 2-3 mins. This act's like a reset-to default factory settings...I had same problem on my 97 Z28, endeded up being the negative terminal to the battery was just slighly loose. I noticed it while disconnecting the the battery to reset my ob-cpu...Try this and let me know if it worked... i should!
