Ran fine, shut off. Came back out, turned over but not start. Had jump started twice but put in gear and died. Question: I know low on gas, can this effect anything?

Possibly a fuel supply issue. Will require a fuel pressure tester. Could be in tank pump or a bad fuel pump relay. In a quiet environment, turn key on (not start position ) and listen if you can hear the guel pump run for 1 or 2 seconds.

Check the ignition timing is correct. I see that you have changed the wires so I suggest that you recheck the firing order for the plugs as it is easy to get it wrong when replacing the leads.

How do I replace the feul pump on my 1988 BMW 735i 6-cyl?

Remove your trunk mat and spare tyre. You can access fuel pump through plate in the trunk. Don't need to drop tank. Check fuses and relays first.

Car has stalled twice while in motion. I come to a complete stop and the car will restart and I can drive away. A third time car seemed to be stalling and giving it gas kept it in motion.

sounds like a fuel problem. start by checking or replacing fuel filter. then do a pressure check of fuel pump and system if need be. if the car lacks power under load or when you gas it, it is a fuel system problem. and it will not hurt to look and see if air filter is ok! have a good holiday !!

this is known as a "cold start" problem. common possibilities include a restricted fuel filter, clogged or dirty injectors, or even a problem with the coolant temperature sensor (CTS) or oxygen (O2) sensor.

Fuel

the fuel filter sounds like the problem, are you sure its carborated not fuel injucted because fuel injuction has a regulater for the fuel if it is stuck open you would pump gas to the fuel rail and back to the fuel tank
