Need a diagram of the various hoses and their location for a 1976 dodge slant 6 engine 225cu in with a carter BBD 2 barrel carburetor. I am upgrading from the singel barrel and haven't any idea where some of the vacuum hoses go. Definitely need the distributor vacuum advance, the PCV valve. My truck was originally a Federal vehicle with minimal smog. Thanks for the help! Mike D.

SOURCE: i need a carburetor vacuum hoses diagram for a 82

If you go to AutoZone.com and register (free) you can nagivate your way to the "repair info" section. Once there look at the list in the center of the page and click on "emission controls:, after that look on the left side of the page for "VACUUM DIAGRAMS". the proper vacuum diagram should be there for your truck.

Dodge slant 6

I'm not sure, it's been a while but I think it's a 2 barrel. Take the breather off and look down inside the carb. There will be 1 or 2 "holes" going down, these are the barrels.
Putting a larger carb on it will require an adapter plate. I do recall back in the 80's seeing an adapter plate for a 4 barrel for a slant 6. Probably your best bet would be to get in touch with a company like "Summit Racing" and see what they have available.

Need the linkage diagram for a 1978 dodge brougham carbuator with a 440 motor

Hi!!
In order to better assist you, please provide the carburetor part #, it is located as follows: On Carter Carburetors, the number is stamped on the left rear foot of throttle body on vertical surface near bolt hole. The Carburetor number is preceded by the letters "TQ" and followed by an "S". On Holley Carburetors, the number is stamped on main body flange. It is in front of the lever, controlled by throttle position transducer, under the choke vacuum diaphragm. The Carburetor number is preceded by the letter "R" and followed by an "A".

1987 dodge ramcharger is leaking fuel from carburetor, is there a kit to fix the carburetor?

Yes, check at local auto parts store, but they may have to order it, seeing how everything is pretty well fuel injected now. Look for a tag attached, or at least some numbers, make of carb, such as holley or carter, 2 barrel or 4 barrel etc that they can use for reference.

Jeep cj won't idle

Assuming that the jeep has not been modified it is likely the Carter BBD Carburetor on that engine, or the sensor inputs to the carburetor.

The Carter BBD has an idling circuit that is always seeking. There is a stepper motor that keeps changing the rpm, and fuel mixture. It basically never stabilizes, and it keeps adjusting based on the feedback loop from half a dozen or so sensors.

So, if a sensor goes bad and feeds a constant signal to the carb, you get problems.

The Carter BBD is a very difficult carb to rebuild and is usually fairly dear in terms of cost.

If you can find a Jeep factory repair manual (on ebay) on the 85 cj -- it is an olive green manual about 3 inches thick and is usually not too expensive, it has troubleshooting procedures for the BBD. Don't get a Haines or aftermarket manual. get the olive drab official factory manual

Remember it is probably the carb that is bad, but there may be more to it than just that.. I don't remember all the inputs to the stepper motor circuit, but I do know that EGR valve is one of them.

good luck
