1998 land rover discovery transmission makes loud banging noise when shifting from pari to drive?

Tons of possibilities here (transmission, differential, motor mounts, transmission mounts....), so I'll ask some debug questions to help narrow it down. Does it make the noise when shifting into reverse? Also, does it make the noise only when shifting from park, or also when shifting from neutral (into drive or into reverse)? Did the noise start as an occasional, softer noise and get worse over time, or did it start suddenly? Does the vehicle lurch at the same time as the noise? What happens when you go from Reverse to Drive, or vice versa? Has any work been done recently (brakes, tires, alignment, suspension, transmission)?

After accelerating to about 45mph i let off the gas and there is a loud banging noise under the hood . the car still runs and shifts great. the noise is randon and i cannot pinpoint its exact location .

Have you checked the engine supports (aka motor mounts)? It could be when the engine decelerates, the braking action of the engine caused it to twist and strike the hood if the mount(s) is/are defective.

Loud bang when I hit a bump with my foot on the break. No sound at all if I hit a bump without my foot on the brake. What is this?

indicates that lower suspension rubbers are broken and should be inspected by an accredited front suspension professional service center

Front noise when releasing the brake on 2005 rsx

Same as above, but balljoints and tierod ends can bang when brakes are tightened or released. Loose brake caliper or sticking brake caliper. Sometimes motor mounts can be affected by brake action.

Making loud banging sound when gas pedel pushed

This sounds like a broken motor or transmission mount.  Try to isolate the location of the banging noise to give you or a mechanic an idea of which mounts to check first.  Some motor and transmission mounts can be tricky, so you may have to remove them to see that they are worn or broken.
