I drive a 1991 Buick Park Avenue and I can't get the hood to open on my car. It overheated yesterday and I need to pop the hood to see the problem, but the hood won't come up. I tried the release lever and it is working but the hood won't come up. I don't want to break the hood trying to open it. What can I do??

I would have someone hold the hood release latch while bumping the front of the hood to try to bump the hood loose. Once opened, be sure to lubricate the hood latch under the hood and also lubericate the safety latch as well to prevent this in the future. Use white lithium grease to lube all latches. Be sure to work the latch a couple dozen times after lubricating a few times before closing the hood to ensure it is working properly.

The only thing you can do is--use a lot of extensions and take off hood latch from under front of car, underneath hood latch. good-luck!!

You will have to push the release latch to one side, once push and cleared you can lift the hood, check the adjustments on the release latch or it may need to be lubed, so it can release as designed.<!-- from fixya rte -->

Hi. Usually hoods came with safety latch that will prevent your hood from opening if hood release fails while drivng. Try to locate the latch under the hood. You can either push it to the side or up. What it does is it just release the hook.
Have a good one!

You will have to get under the car , and reach up behind the front grille as far up as the hood latch, and MANUALLY release it. It's tricky but doable. I've done it many times. Hope this helps

Need a picture of firing order on a 1991 Buick Park Avenue

Check this site I believe the black images is the coil pack firing order. I used a coil pack from a different model but had to open it up and change the firing order since the spark wires wouldn't reach for my 91 buick. You should have some knowledge about wiring before attempting that. Basically I just switched the wiring on each side inside the coil pack.https://www.google.com/search?q=buick+1991+park+avenue+firing+order&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=reisU9eSH9HioAThh4D4BQ&ved=0CC8QsAQ&biw=1440&bih=748

If the latch to open hood is not working, is there

If there is still resistance when you pull the lever then the cable is still connected.Try having someone with a open hand slap on the hood while you pull the lever.Try the corners and work your way to the center. If you do get it open lube all the latch parts.Well hope this helps and good luck.

Front damage, inside cable to open hood snapped from latch. latch damaged and can't open hood. Know of any way to pop the hood? 1991 park avenue

Usually a strong coat hanger will snag the lug the cable attaches too. You will need to bend a 3/8 end J hook from the coat hanger and snag it from the drivers side of the latch to pull on this lug horizontally
' If the hood is trashed just zip a hole into the hood were that latch is located with a disc grinder and a cut off wheel instead

The hood does not open when i pull the hood release inside the car

Your hood release cable has stretched or broken somewhere between the knob inside and the latch under the hood This is not a fun fix you need to trace the release cable to the break n the line sometimes it is possible to unhook cable from knob and pull on wire sleeve to pop hood best of luck

1996 Buick Park Avenue hood latch seized cannot open hood

Most likely the CABLE is seized. Unless the latch is damaged , should be movable, Either on a lift, or by laying on your back, reach your arm up behind the front grille, and manually move the latch. Not hard to do. Hope this helps
