My database says to remove lower intake manifold, as part of starter removal procedure. Is that where it's located?

Will not start when hot

Have the coil checked out. They sometimes give hassles when hot.

My 2000 V6 cougar will not start. When we put starter fluid the car will start up, but then stops. Not getting fuel. What can be the problem, fuel filter?

Check behind kick panel to left of drivers foot for the inertia switch which may have inadvertently been tripped. May even be a label there. Should have a reset button to push. I'd try that first, unless you can hear the pump cycle when key turned on.

Check the antifreeze level. It could be low, When the air turns cold all of the sudden there is an air pocket in the cooling system. Watch for coolant leaks and if it continues to get hot replace the thermostat.

take your car to autozone. It might be your alternator. It is better if you take off the alternator to have it tested, just incase it is a parasitic leak. This happened to my navigator 2 days ago. It was wierd because it ran fine when it was warm outside. But kept killing by battery when it was cold!

Mercury cougar wont start

My first suspicion is the battery connections may be lose and also the battery may now be run down. If you take the terminal connections off and clean them and the terminal posts so that they are shiny clean and charge the battery you can try again. If the car starts, that was the problem. If it doesn't, then look for the starter solenoid and lose connections there and also look toward the starter next. A tech with a volt meter can run independent checks and narrow it down further but having good connections and a charged battery are necessary to get started with the other tests.

what is anti-theft light doing? It should come on solid for about 2 sec after you turn the key on then turn off. If it is flashing after this then it is not seeing the computer chip in the key and you have a PATS problem.
