Question about 2004 Kia Sorento

1 Answer

While driving i had my ac on and running. I turned it off for a little bit because i was getting cold and then turned it back on after a little while longer because i was getting too warm. Well, after i turned the switch there wasnt any air comming out of the vents! What could be the problem and what do i need to do to fix it myself? Any answers please email me at ahamay_ii@live.com ... thank you very much!

I own 2 kia's ive had the same experience on both some times still have a long delay . dont know my self if its a problem or normal .when it stops blowing altogether i turn it threw all the settings slowly 1 by 1 and it seems to do the trick. i do notice that keeping it on inside air i have that problem less often. the funny thing is the spectra automaticly switches to outside air every time i turn off the a/c or the car itself ,i also had a 96 sephia that did the same thing.the rio on the other hand does not do that it stays on inside air all the time.

the ac system needs air through the condenser ( radiator bit in front of the radiator) to operate correctly. IT it has no air then the compressed gas is to hot and will not turn to liquid and so the high pressure switch turns of the ac compressor. No problem when you are moving as road speed provides the air flow. Get an electric fan and have it installed before the condenser and connect it to the ac compressor circuit so that it is running all the time you have the ac compressor running. not the local mechanic. When dealing with ac systems the best people to take it to is an accredited ac specialist shop

If the compressor is failing, or there is a restriction in the ac system, the compressor could put a heavy load on the belt and the engine.
Normally the ac clutch would slip and not kill the engine, but anything is possible.
I t could be something else electrical too.

Problem could be a number of things:
  1. worn or slick drive belt - drive belt slips and with AC on could cause stalling
  2. bad MAF (mass air flow) sensor
  3. dirty EGR valve
  4. bad TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) - controls idling speeds under all conditions ie. engine is cold, warm, running with AC on

Driving yesterday smelt something burning and my a/c stoped blowing cold air. now my a/c does not work , opened the hood somethin was smokin a little bit but im not sure what it is

Take a look at the accessory belt that drives the AC compressor. It sounds like the AC clutch seized and you were smoking the belt.

I'm afraid you have the deluxe system,my friend. It has 2 electronic circuit boards that may be going bad. Very expensive unless you can find used or aftermarket.
I hope it's just the blower motor, but I had the other thing happen and I had to wire around it,losing my AUTO temp and blower control. don-ohio

To tell if the ac coolant requires replacement the car will not cool when the sun is out and at all time you might have to put the car ac in coolest to enable a little bit of cold air.

Also the back seat will not be cool except the car is running on the highway.

Gas might be leaking somewhere.

Good luck

2004 Gmc Envoy XUV A/C problems

Hi, do you turn the AC as soon as you start the car? If this is the case yes if will blow hot until the AC kicks in. What the ac does is not put cold air in to the vehicle it removes the heat from the air, so it does take time for it to do this.A little trick for a bit quicker is to roll down a window these just helps. I read that once it starts getting cold it stays cold is this right? Once it stays cold have you notice that if you stop for just like running into the store and you start the car back up is it still cold or does the problem starts over? Hope this helps some please let me know.

Cheers
