There is no way transmission can leak into the engine.

Transmission fluid can leak into the radidiator and then into the engine cooling system. This happens when the coil inside the radiator is damage and the tranny fluid mixes with the anit freeze.

Only cure is to replace the radiator.

Is there a oil cooler on a 1997 ford f150 with a standard transmission. Where is it located?

If it is a standard transmission, It probably doesn't have one. It may have one for the engine oil but most ford F150 pickups only have a cooler for the automatic transmission.

How to find leak in ford f150 transmission

Hoist the truck and look. Seriously.
There are only a few places where it can be leaking.
If it is leaking at the front of the engine, check the cooling lines and the condition of the radiator. If it is leaking at the torque converter, check the mounting bolts. Most likely, it is leaking from the transmission pan gasket.

I have a 1987 2wd ford f150 and there seems to be rusty water from my rad leaking out of my transmission area???

Hi, there are freeze plugs on the back of the engine block. If one of them has rusted thru, it will leak coolant into the transmission bell housing and out the bottom. You will have to separate the transmission from the engine at least a few inches or more to repair the freeze plug. If you need instructions for doing this, please reply with your engine size and type of transmission.

Check for vacuum leaks--especially along vacuum hose that goes to transmission or other hoses that connect near the port that the transmission vacuum line connects at the engine intake manifold. Please reply if you have more questions.

well check heater hose connections to heater core and try to get back in there to see if it is comming from the intake but if the leak is low it is possibly a freeze plug or exspansion plug in the back of the moter if so youll have to seperate the motor and trans to fix prob.

It could be leaking from the pan, the dipstick where it goes into the transmission, or the front or rear seals on the transmission.
