Question about 1995 Dodge Intrepid

1 Answer

Same problem with my 1995 Dodge Intrepid. I tested my Hi / Low fan relays, they're fine. I tested the fan motors, they're fine. I blead the coolent lines, steady flow. Temp gage works fine. Fuses are fine. I tried to bypass the fan relays and still can get them to work. Can you bypass the relay switch with the battery? Will the fans kick on? I think I'm down to wiring. Unless someone thinks I may have missed something. Where is the ground for the fan's?

Hi,

The ground for this is on the side of the left front frame rail. This is the wiring on the side of the rail by the battery not the one on top of the rail by the battery.

Yes you can bypass the fan relays but I think you will find that one of the follow is faulty.
1. The Thermoswitch which is what is used to control the Fan Control module.
2. The Fan control module this is mounted on the right fender side shield.

Check this and let me know if you need more information.

Thanks

Jason

A/c has freon, changed low/high cutoff switch, Compressor only comes on if I jumper directly to + side of battery, Compressor then cools so compressor clutch works. No power at connector to compressor....

first try swapping out the relay. The relay is usually in the box under the hood. If that doesn't work, interrogate the relay socket with a test light to see if the ground signal is coming in from the computer. To do that, connect your test light clip to battery positive and probe the relay socket. If you don't get a bright light with the car running and the A/C turned on, the problem is with the control system. If you have the automatic climate controls, the problem may be in the BCM. I have pasted diagrams for both manual and automatic system below.

My dodge 1995 intrepid will run but the fan does not kick on to cool the engine.once i stop the engine has to cool to restart.Problem is...

This is a common problem. Usually, the fan's RELAY has went bad. This relay can usually be found under the hood, somewhere in the engine compartment.
The relay is just a switch, and is activated by the engines temperature sensor.
It is just a pull-out, and plug back in little black box. usually, it is well labeled, and easy to find. it will be in a box, with a lid, and when you remove the lid, there should be several large fuses, and some little black boxes that usually say BOSCH 30A on them.

If you change the relay, and your fan still does not work properly, then the problem may be the temperature sensor on the engine, the wiring, or the fan itself may have went bad.
But, start with the relay switch, as it is the most likely culprit.

Good Luck.

Where is the radiator fan relay located on a dodge intreped 2004

noexprea, You will find that relay in the engine compartment fuse box. Sometimes there will be two relays, one for high fan and one for low fan. Read the legend on the cover to determine which relay to remove. Good luck with this.

Dodge intrepid fan don't turn on, fuses are OK, and relays close when engine is hot.

check fan out fans have a built in thermal device when they get to hot they shut off you might just replace the motor in the fan but check out relay first much cheaper to replace

It could be the the fan motor relay if you replace the relay and it still doesn't work then its the blower motor needing to be replaced.

Fan runs continually on a 1995 dodge intrepid.

CHANGE THE FAN RELAY. THERE ARE SMALL CONTACTS ON THE INSIDE THAT OPEN AND CLOSE WHEN THE SENSOR TELLS THEM TO. THESE CONTACTS COULD POSSIBLY BE FUSED TOGETHER FROM EXCESSIVE HEAT. THIS SHOULD SOLVE THE PROBLEM. HOPE THIS HELPS. KEEP ME POSTED. THANKS FOR AN HONEST RATING AND FOR USING FIX-YA. GOOD LUCK

My 97 dodge intrepid 3.5L is running hot.

Most likely a bad fan relay, or a bad temp sensor. Does the fan come on with the A/C? If not, most likely the relay, if so, most likely the temp sensor.
