I have anew coil but im not getting any spark from it when we turn the key . the starter trys to start the car but no spark past the coil . this is a 6 cylendar. where am i loosing the spark

If it is chugging and running rough after you turn the key off, it may be "dieseling" which is caused by carbon buildup in the cylinders and the idle speed being higher than spec. Pulling the coil wire from the coil and the engine continues to run is a good example.
Sounds like a bad starter. Just an idea It is a poor idea to let someone work on your car if that person does not know what they are doing. My thought is your friend ran the starter a lot and burnt something out.

just replace your alternator and you will be fine also you might check any wires hanging around just to make sure nothing touching the body ok goodluck
