The proper weight for your oil should be written on the oil fill cap located under your hood. It's like a 20 weight oil.

My girlfriend has a 2001 New.Beetle, 2.0 gas. The oil recommendation is nowhere to be found under the hood; its buried deep in the owners manual. If I remember correctly, VW recommends 5W40 synthetic for this engine.

What weight oil goes into my 2000 v w beetle turbo

You can purchase Mobil 1 European formula only as it meets the VW/Audi specification of 503.000, 0-30 weight for engines of 180 BHP or less. Some people have said that some of the Amsoil will meet this specification. Whatever sythenic oil you purchase, make sure that on the label it states meets VW/Audi specification 503.000 or 503.001 on the label. If it does, then you can buy it.

What oil do I use in a 1998 vw beetle?

what engine do you have? Gas? Diesel? VW takes special oil. its all listed in the owners manual. Most MOBIL1 products are ok if they meet the spec. It will say something like VW 500.00 or VW502.00 for gas models.

What kind of oil should I put in my 2000 VW new beetle?

The proper oil weight should be printed on the oil refill cap located under the hood. It's likely a 20 weight oil in the New Beetle.

WHAT OIL IT NEEDS MY 2000 VW BEETLE 2.0 L WITH 140000 MILES

I found 2 listings for the 2.0L engine, A and B. The 'A' had no info on oil type, the 'B' stated all temperature ranges require type 'SJ' and 5/30 or 5/40 weight. Because the mileage is 140k, I am wondering how often you must add oil between changes. If you add none, or under a quart, 5/30 is ok, if you must add oil more often, use the heavier weight, 5/40.

2001 vw beetle automatic transmission will not shift into overdrive at highway speeds. why?

I have a 2001 Beetle, the transmisson seen to have a pause and then engage when driving normaly and it's worst on the hills, after driving a distance it smells some kind of quemical that is not oil or gas, the beeping sound and the engine light on the dashboard goes on when stopping (may be the motor) and the temperature blue light goes on constantly. Are all of this related? to transmission? separate issues? The dealer and 2 other private mecanics don't give a perfect diagnosys they are all the time guessing. What's wrong? please advice.

I can't figure out which oil to put in my girlfriends 2001 VW beetle, 2.0 engine. I need to know weight and synthetic or dyno

any good quality 10w 30 oil will work just fine. If you want to go with synthetics, i've done tons of research on them and personally prefer to use them. To make your decision, the best test results are found by "googling" noac volitility tests. You will find a valid comparison of synthetics there. All products tested far exceed any comparison to "normal" oil!
