Question about 1992 Ford F250

1 Answer

2000 Ford F 250 - wouldn't start, but would if we popped the clutch. Just tried starting it by putting a screwdriver on the solenoid (on the fender all) and it starts great. Does this mean it is the starter?

Thanks, but it was the Neutral Safety Switch or the Clutch Safety Switch. By passed it, and it now starts just fine. Guess we'll be ordering a new one. Thanks for your help!

My 2000 ford f150 won;t start .i replaced the neutral safety switch, it started fine for a while but wont start now. i have to bump start.is there a relay in that circuit?

THERE IS A STARTER SOLENOID LOCATED UNDER THE HOOD ON THE RIGHT FENDER WELL. CHECK TO MAKE SURE YOU HAVE BATTERY VOLTAGE ON THE LARGE RED WIRE ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE RELAY. IF SO USE A TEST LIGHT ON THE SMALL TERMINAL, YOU SHOULD HAVE POWER TO THIS WIRE WHEN HELD IN START POSITION HAVE SOMEONE HOLD THE KEY IN START WITH CLUTCH PEDAL DEPRESSED WHILE YOU CHECK FOR VOLTAGE AT THE RELAY WITH A TEST LIGHT. IF YOU HAVE POWER THEN THE SOLENOID IS BAD

2000 ford mercury 3.0, shifter wont move. had a fender bender, put it into park and it wouldn't come back out.

For car not changing gears it can be shifter assembly issue, or it can also be transmission issue. Get the shifter assembly inspected with ignition OFF.

For more troubleshooting, I suggest you to get the Following help link checked, its complete step by step procedure to inspect gear shift issues: -----

Where is starter solenoid 2002 ford f-250

The starter solenoid is mounted directly to the starter motor on all late model Ford trucks. Older Ford trucks had a main and a sub solenoid, the main was on the inside of fender near the battery, the Red Positive cable went to the main starter solenoid then down to the sub solenoid, earlier Fords only had the main and a centrifugal drive starter engagement clutch.. In plain English this means when the starter spun up the starter drive hear was thrown out to engage the flywheel.

I have a 1995 ford f50 that will not start with the key. Replace ignition switch, clutch interlock safety switch, starter relay on the passenger fender. I can manually jump start by crossing the pole s at...

Check the small wire going to the starter relay. It should have 12V when the ignition is in the start position. If it doesn't, you either have a bad igntion switch or a wiring problem from the switch to the relay. If you don't have a volt meter, you can use a 12V test light. Let me know if you need more help.

I have a 1990 F250 with a 460 engine the truck will not start without jumping it off the solenoid and after you get it started and get to when you are going and try to start it again it will not jump again...

Try replacing the solinoide, and make sure ALL connections are clean and making good contact. Also you should have the strater amperage draw and the charging system tested.

Sometimes no response when key turned on to start, let set and then may start as normal?

If when you try to start the engine all the gauges and lights go dim on the dash, you have a bad, dirty or corroded battery cable. If your gauges and lights do not dim then its probably a bad starter solonoid. They will work off and on when they start to go bad.

I get credit when you rate my answer..............Thanks

Solenoid

Use a screwdriver and cross over the large post to the small post on the side with the wire that runs to the starter.
